That he heard Usama bin Zaid speaking to Saʿd, saying, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the plague and said, 'It is a means of punishment with which some nations were punished and some of it has remained, and it appears now and then. So whoever hears that there is an outbreak of plague in some land, he should not go to that land, and if the plague breaks out in the land where one is already present, one should not run away from that land, escaping from the plague."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ ذَكَرَ الْوَجَعَ فَقَالَ رِجْزٌ أَوْ عَذَابٌ عُذِّبَ بِهِ بَعْضُ الأُمَمِ ثُمَّ بَقِيَ مِنْهُ بَقِيَّةٌ فَيَذْهَبُ الْمَرَّةَ وَيَأْتِي الأُخْرَى فَمَنْ سَمِعَ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ يَقْدَمَنَّ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَقَعَ بِهَا فَلاَ يَخْرُجْ فِرَارًا مِنْهُ

This calamity or illness was a punishment with which were punished some of the nations before you. Then it was left upon the earth. It goes away once and comes back again. He who heard of its presence in a land should not go towards it, and he who happened to be in a land where it had broken out should not fly from it.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ أَوِ السَّقَمَ رِجْزٌ عُذِّبَ بِهِ بَعْضُ الأُمَمِ قَبْلَكُمْ ثُمَّ بَقِيَ بَعْدُ بِالأَرْضِ فَيَذْهَبُ الْمَرَّةَ وَيَأْتِي الأُخْرَى فَمَنْ سَمِعَ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ يَقْدَمَنَّ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَهُوَ بِهَا فَلاَ يُخْرِجَنَّهُ الْفِرَارُ مِنْهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this plague is a punishment or a remainder of punishment that afflicted a people before you. So, if it occurs in a land while you are in it, do not leave it running away from it. And if you hear about it in a land, do not enter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ هَذَا الطَّاعُونَ رِجْزٌ أَوْ بَقِيَّةٌ مِنْ عَذَابٍ عُذِّبَ بِهِ قَوْمٌ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Indeed, this disease has been a punishment inflicted upon nations before you. So, if you hear of it being present in a land, do not enter upon it. And if it happens in a land where you reside, do not flee from it." Umar ibn Al-Khattab then returned from Sham.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا السَّقَمَ عُذِّبَ بِهِ الْأُمَمُ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلا تَدْخُلُوهَا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ قَالَ فَرَجَعَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مِنَ الشَّامِ

[AI] From him, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, this is a punishment that Allah has sent upon people before you or a group from the Children of Israel. It comes sometimes and goes sometimes. So, when it occurs in a land, do not enter it, and when it occurs in your land, do not flee from it."

عَنْهُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ هَذَا عَذَابٌ أَوْ كَذَا أَرْسَلَهُ اللهُ عَلَى نَاسٍ قَبْلَكُمْ أَوْ طَائِفَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَهُوَ يَجِيءُ أَحْيَانًا وَيَذْهَبُ أَحْيَانًا فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, this pandemic is a punishment that Allah has used to destroy nations before you. And there is still some of it remaining on the earth, it comes and goes. So when it happens in a land, do not leave it. And when you hear about it in a land, do not go to it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَبَاءَ رِجْزٌ أَهْلَكَ اللهُ بِهِ الْأُمَمَ قَبْلَكُمْ وَقَدْ بَقِيَ مِنْهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ شَيْءٌ يَجِيءُ أَحْيَانًا وَيَذْهَبُ أَحْيَانًا فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ رِجْزٌ عُذِّبَ بِهِ بَعْضُ الْأُمَمِ فَيَذْهَبُ الْمَرَّةَ وَيَأْتِي الْأُخْرَى فَمَنْ سَمِعَ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلَا يَقْدَمْ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ هُوَ بِهَا فَلَا يَخْرُجَنَّ فِرَارًا مِنْهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this plague is a punishment with which Allah has destroyed some nations. And it remains on the earth, sometimes appearing and sometimes receding. So, if it happens while you are in a land, do not leave it. And if you hear of it in a land, do not enter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَبَاءَ رِجْزٌ أَهْلَكَ اللهُ بِهِ بَعْضَ الْأُمَمِ وَقَدْ بَقِيَ فِي الْأَرْضِ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ يَجِيءُ أَحْيَانًا وَيَذْهَبُ أَحْيَانًا فَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمْ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this epidemic is a punishment that previous nations were inflicted with. There remains on the earth a remnant of it, sometimes it occurs and sometimes it goes away. So, if it occurs in a land while you are in it, do not leave it. And if it occurs in a land where you are not present, do not enter it."

"إِنَّ هذا الطاعون رِجْزٌ، عُذب به طائفةٌ من بنى إِسرائيل، كانوا قبلَكم فهو في الأَرض يذهبُ أَحْيَانًا ويرجع أَحْيانًا، فمن سمع به بأَرض فَلَا يَدْخُلَنَّ عليه، ومن كان بأَرضِ فوقع بها فلا يَخْرُجَنَّ فِرَارًا منه".

"إِنَّ هذَا الْوَبَاءَ رِجْزٌ أَهلك اللَّه به بعض الأُمم قبلكم وقد بقى منه في الأرض شئٌ، يجئ أَحْيَانًا ويذهب أَحيانًا، فإِذا وقع بأرض وأَنتم بها فلا تخرجوا منها فِرارًا منه، وإِذا سمعتم به في أَرضٍ فلا تأتوها".

"إِنَّ هذا الطاعون رِجْزٌ وبقية عذاب عُذِّب به قومٌ فإِذا وقعَ بأَرضٍ وأَنتم بها فلا تخرجُوا منها فرارًا منه، وإذا وقع بأرض ولستم بها فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا".

"إِنَّ هذا السَّقَمَ عُذِّب به الأُممُ قبلكم، فإِذا سمعتم به في أَرضٍ فلا تدخلوها، وإِذا وقع بأَرضٍ وأَنتم بها فلا تخرجوا فِرارًا منه".

"إِنَّ هذا الوباءَ شئٌ عُذِّب به الأُمَم قبلكم، وقد بقيت في الأَرضِ منه بَقِيَّة فيقع أَحيانًا ويذهب أَحيانًا، فإذا وقع بأَرضٍ وأَنتم بها فَلا تَخرجُوا منها، وإِذا وَقَعَ بأَرض ولستم بها فلا تَدْخُلوا عليه" .
