“I said to Umm Salamah: ‘O Mother of the Believers! What was the supplication that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said most frequently when he was with you?” She said: ‘The supplication he said most frequently was: “O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion (Yā Muqallibal-qulūb, thabbit qalbī ʿalā dīnik).’” She said: ‘So I said: “O Messenger of Allah, why do you supplicate so frequently: ‘O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.’ He said: ‘O Umm Salamah! Verily, there is no human being except that his heart is between Two Fingers of the Fingers of Allah, so whomsoever He wills He makes steadfast, and whomever He wills He causes to deviate.’”
[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, "Every heart is between two fingers of the fingers of the Most Merciful. He directs it as He wills. If He wants to establish it, He establishes it, and if He wants to mislead it, He misleads it." He also used to say, "O Turner of the hearts, make our hearts steadfast on Your religion. The scale is in the hand of the Most Merciful, He lowers it and raises it."
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to frequently make the following supplication: "O Turner of hearts, keep my heart steadfast on your religion." She (the narrator) said: So, I (also) said: O Messenger of Allah, indeed you frequently make this supplication. He (the Prophet) said: Verily, the heart of a person is between two fingers of Allah. So, He turns it as He wills, and He establishes it as He wills.

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to frequently say, "O Turner of hearts, make our hearts firm in Your religion." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, are you afraid for us even though we believe in you?" He said, "Indeed, the hearts of the children of Adam are between two fingers of the Most Merciful, like one heart. He turns them as He wills."
"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'There is no heart that is not between two of the Fingers of the Most Merciful. If He wills, He guides it and if He wills, He sends it astray.' The Messenger of Allah used to say: 'O You Who makes hearts steadfast make our hearts steadfast in adhering to Your religion.' And he said: 'The Scale is in the Hand of the Most Merciful; He will cause some peoples to rise and others to fall until the day of Resurrection.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 199)
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to frequently say, "O Turner of hearts, keep my heart steadfast on your religion." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed hearts are prone to fluctuation." He replied, "Yes, every son of Adam that Allah has created has a heart between two fingers of the fingers of Allah, and He can turn it as He wishes. We ask Allah, our Lord, not to cause our hearts to deviate after He has guided us, and we ask Him to bestow upon us mercy from Him for He is the Bestower." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me a supplication that I can make for myself." He said, "Say: 'O Allah, forgive my sins and remove the anger in my heart, and protect me from the misguidance of tribulations.'"

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to frequently say, "O Turner of hearts, keep my heart steadfast on your religion." So, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, why do you frequently make this supplication?" He replied, "O Umm Salamah, surely the heart of the son of Adam is between two fingers of the fingers of the Most Merciful. He turns it in the direction He wills."
