Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. Then Allahs Messenger ﷺ said: 0 Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Thine obedience.

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ قُلُوبَ بَنِي آدَمَ كُلَّهَا بَيْنَ إِصْبَعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَقَلْبٍ وَاحِدٍ يُصَرِّفُهُ حَيْثُ يَشَاءُ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اللَّهُمَّ مُصَرِّفَ الْقُلُوبِ صَرِّفْ قُلُوبَنَا عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would often say: Ya Muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik('O Changer of the Hearts! Strengthen my heart upon Your Religion.)' So I said: 'O Prophet of Allah! We believe in you and what you have come with, but do you fear for us?' He said: 'Yes. Indeed the hearts are between two Fingers of Allah's Fingers, He changes them as He wills.'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَقُولَ يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ آمَنَّا بِكَ وَبِمَا جِئْتَ بِهِ فَهَلْ تَخَافُ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنَّ الْقُلُوبَ بَيْنَ أَصْبُعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ اللَّهِ يُقَلِّبُهَا كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ

"The Messenger of Allah (saas) often used to say: 'Allahumma thabbit qalbi 'ala dinika [O Allah, make my heart steadfast in (adhering to) Your religion].' A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Do you fear for us when we have believed in you and in (the Message) that you have brought?' He said: 'Hearts are between two of the fingers of the Most Merciful, and He controls them.'" (Hasan)Al-A'mash (one of the narrators) indicated with his fingers.

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to frequently say, "O Turner of hearts, make our hearts firm in Your religion." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, are you afraid for us even though we believe in you?" He said, "Indeed, the hearts of the children of Adam are between two fingers of the Most Merciful, like one heart. He turns them as He wills."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَقُولَ «يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قُلُوبَنَا عَلَى دِينِكَ» قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تَخَافُ عَلَيْنَا وَقَدْ آمَنَّا بِكَ؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ قُلُوبَ بَنِي آدَمَ بَيْنَ إِصْبَعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَقَلْبٍ وَاحِدٍ يَقُولُ بِهِ هَكَذَا»

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'There is no heart that is not between two of the Fingers of the Most Merciful. If He wills, He guides it and if He wills, He sends it astray.' The Messenger of Allah used to say: 'O You Who makes hearts steadfast make our hearts steadfast in adhering to Your religion.' And he said: 'The Scale is in the Hand of the Most Merciful; He will cause some peoples to rise and others to fall until the day of Resurrection.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 199)

قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيّ ﷺ يكثر أن يقول يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلبي على دينك فقلنا يا رَسولَ اللهِ آمنا بك وبما جئت به فهل تخاف علينا؟ قال نعم إن القلوب بين إصبعين من أصابع الله يقلبها وهذا الحديث قد رواه غير أبي معاوية عن الأعمش عَن أبي سُفيان عَن جابر

He replied, "O Umm Salamah, surely the heart of the son of Adam is between two fingers of the fingers of the Most Merciful. He turns it in the direction He wills."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَقُولَ «يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا أَكْثَرَ مَا تَدْعُو بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ؟ فَقَالَ «يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ إِنَّ قَلْبَ ابْنِ آدَمَ بَيْنَ أُصْبُعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ إِذَا شَاءَ أَقَامَهُ وَإِذَا شَاءَ أَزَاغَهُ»

"إِنَّ قُلُوبَ بَنِى آدَمَ بَيْنَ أَصْبَعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابع الرَّحمنِ كَقَلْبٍ واحِد، يُصَرِّفُهُ حَيْثُ شَاءَ ، الَّلهُمَّ مُصَرِّفَ القُلُوبِ صَرِّف قُلُوبَنَا عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ".

"عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرَّقَاشِىِّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: كَانَ النبِىُّ ﷺ يُكْثِرُ أنْ يَقُولَ: يَا مُقَلِّبَ القُلُوبِ! ثبتْ قَلبِى عَلَى دِينِكَ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ! آمَنَّا بِكَ وَبِمَا جِئْتَ بِهِ فَهَلْ

تَخَافُ عَلَيْنَا، قَالَ: نَعَمْ إِن القُلُوبَ بَيْنَ إصْبعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِع اللهِ يُقَلِّبُهَا، وَفِى لَفْظٍ: يُقَلِّبُهَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ هَكَذَا وأَشَارَ بِأصْبُعَيْهِ".

"عَنْ أبِى سُفْينَ، عَنْ أنَسٍ قَالَ: كانَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ يَقُولُ: يَا مُقَلِّبَ القُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلبِى عَلَى دِينِكَ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ الله! أتَخْشَى عَلَيْنَا وَقَدْ آمَنَّا بِكَ وَأيْقَنَا بِمَا جِئْتنَا بِهِ؟ ! فَقَالَ: وَمَا تَدْرِى؟ إِنَّ قُلُوبَ الخَلاَئِقِ بَيْنَ إِصْبَعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابع الله - ﷻ - ".

"عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: كَانَ رسولُ الله ﷺ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَقُول: يَا مُقَلَّب القُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِى عَلى دِينكَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ أَهْلِهِ: يَارَسُولَ الله أَتَخَافُ عَلَيْنَا وَقَدْ آمَنَّا بِكَ وَبِمَا جِئْتَ بِهِ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ القَلْبَ بَيْنَ إِصْبُعَينِ مِنْ أَصَابِع الرَّحْمنِ - ﷻ - يَقُولُ بِهِمَا هَكَذَا وَحَرَّكَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ".

"عَنْ عَبد الله بْن عَمْرو: أَنَّه سَمعَ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ قُلُوبَ بَنى آدَمَ كلَّهَا بَيْنَ إِصبعَيْنِ مِنْ أصَابِع الرَّحمنِ، كَقَلبٍ وَاحِدٍ يُصَرِّفُهُ حَيْثُ يَشَاءُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : "اللَّهُمَّ مُصَرِّفَ القُلُوبِ، اصْرِفْ قُلُوبَنَا إِلى طَاعَتِكَ".
