suyuti:621-50bAbá Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥamn

[Machine] From Abu Salama bin Abdur-Rahman who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down one day and took a dry stick and started removing its leaves. Then he said: To say, "There is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, All praise belongs to Allah, and Glory be to Allah" removes sins as the leaves are shed from this tree. Take them, O Abu Darda, before there comes a time when you will be prevented from them, for they are the enduring good deeds, and they are from the treasures of Paradise. Abu Salama said: So whenever Abu Darda mentioned this hadith, he would say: I will declare the oneness of Allah, I will magnify Allah, and I will glorify Him until if someone sees me, they would think I am insane.
