“I memorized the Qur’an and recited it all in one night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘I am afraid that you may live a long life and that you may get bored. Recite it over the period of a month.’ I said: ‘Let me benefit from my strength in my youth.’ He said: ‘Recite it in ten days.’ I said: ‘Let me benefit from my strength and my youth.’ He said: ‘Recite it in seven days.’ I said: ‘Let me benefit from my strength and my youth,’ but he refused (to alter it any further).”  

جَمَعْتُ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَرَأْتُهُ كُلَّهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَطُولَ عَلَيْكَ الزَّمَانُ وَأَنْ تَمَلَّ فَاقْرَأْهُ فِي شَهْرٍ فَقُلْتُ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ فَاقْرَأْهُ فِي عَشْرَةٍ قُلْتُ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ فَاقْرَأْهُ فِي سَبْعٍ قُلْتُ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي فَأَبَى  

[Machine] I collected the Quran and read it every night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed about this and he said, "I fear that it could be a burden for you to read it every month." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He said, "Read it every twenty days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He said, "Read it every ten days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He said, "Read it every seven days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He then refused.  

جَمَعْتُ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَرَأْتُ بِهِ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّيأَخْشَى أَنْ يَطُولَ عَلَيْكَ زَمَانٌ أَنْ تَمَلَّ اقْرَأْهُ فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ اقْرَأْهُ فِي كُلِّ عِشْرِينَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ اقْرَأْهُ فِي عَشْرٍ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ اقْرَأْهُ فِي كُلِّ سَبْعٍ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي فَأَبَى  

[Machine] Messenger of Allah, I fear that time will pass upon you and you will become bored of it [the Quran]. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth." He said, "Read it [the Quran] every month." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth." He said, "Read it [the Quran] every twenty days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth." He said, "Read it [the Quran] every ten days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth." He said, "Read it [the Quran] every seven days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth." But he refused.  

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَطُولَ عَلَيْكَ الزَّمَانُ وَأَنْ تَمَلَّ اقْرَأْ بِهِ فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ قُلْتُ أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي قَالَ اقْرَأْ بِهِ فِي عِشْرِينَ قُلْتُ أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي قَالَ اقْرَأْ بِهِ فِي عَشْرٍ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي قَالَ اقْرَأْ بِهِ فِي كُلِّ سَبْعٍ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي فَأَبَى  

[Machine] I gathered the Quran and read it in one night. The Prophet ﷺ was informed about this, and he said, "Read it every month." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." جَمَعْتُ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَرَأْتُ بِهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «اقْرَأْهُ فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ» قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي فَقَالَ «اقْرَأْهُ فِي كُلِّ عِشْرِينَ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي قَالَ «اقْرَأْهُ فِي عَشْرٍ» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي قَالَ «اقْرَأْهُ فِي سَبْعٍ» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي فَأَبَى  

[Machine] "I memorized the Quran, so I recited it in one night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'Recite it in a month.' He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youthfulness.' He said, 'Recite it in ten days.' He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youthfulness.' He said, 'Recite it in seven days.' He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youthfulness.' He insisted and did not give up."  

حَفِظْتُ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَرَأْتُ بِهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَأْهُ فِي شَهْرٍ» قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ «اقْرَأْهُ فِي عَشْرٍ» قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ «اقْرَأْهُ فِي سَبْعٍ» قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ فَأَبَى  

[Machine] I gathered the Quran and started reciting it every night. The Prophet ﷺ was informed about this and he said to me, "Recite it in its entirety every month." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He replied, "Recite it in its entirety every twenty days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He then said, "Recite it in its entirety every ten days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He finally said, "Recite it in its entirety every seven days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." But he refused.
