"عَنْ زَيدِ بنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ: قَالَ لِى رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : إِنَّهَا تَأتِينِى كُتُبٌ لَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَقْرَأَهَا كُلُّ أَحَدٍ، فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَتَعَلَّمَ كِتَابَ الْعِبْرَانِيَّة، أَوْ قَالَ: السُّرْيَانِيَّة. فَقُلْتُ: نَعَم فَتَعَلَّمْتُهَا فِى سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً".
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, books from people come to me, and I do not like for anyone to read them. Can you learn the Syriac language?" I said, "Yes." So, I learned it in seventeen (years).
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهُ يَأْتِينِي كُتُبٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَقْرَأَهَا كُلُّ أَحَدٍ فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَتَعَلَّمَ كِتَابَ السُّرْيَانِيَّةِ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ «فَتَعَلَّمْتُهَا فِي سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Books are coming to me from people that I do not like everyone to read. Can you learn the Syriac language?" I said, "Yes." He said, "So I learned it in seventeen days."
