The Last Hour would not come before the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold, for which people would fight. Ninety-nine out of each one hundred would die but every man amongst them would say that perhaps he would be the one who would be saved (and thus possess this gold).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَحْسِرَ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ يَقْتَتِلُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُقْتَلُ مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ وَيَقُولُ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِّي أَكُونُ أَنَا الَّذِي أَنْجُو

I was standing along with Ubayy b. Kaʿb and he said: The opinions of the people differ in regard to the achievement of worldly ends. I said: Yes, of course. Thereupon he said: I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: The Euphrates would soon uncover a mountain of gold and when the people would bear of it they would flock towards it but the people who would possess that (treasure) (would say): If we allow these persons to take out of it they would take away the whole of it. So they would fight and ninety-nine out of one hundred would be killed. Abu Kamil in his narration said: I and Ubayy b. Kaʿb stood under the shade of the battlement of Hassan.

لاَ يَزَالُ النَّاسُ مُخْتَلِفَةً أَعْنَاقُهُمْ فِي طَلَبِ الدُّنْيَا قُلْتُ أَجَلْ قَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يُوشِكُ الْفُرَاتُ أَنْ يَحْسِرَ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَإِذَا سَمِعَ بِهِ النَّاسُ سَارُوا إِلَيْهِ فَيَقُولُ مَنْ عِنْدَهُ لَئِنْ تَرَكْنَا النَّاسَ يَأْخُذُونَ مِنْهُ لَيُذْهَبَنَّ بِهِ كُلِّهِ قَالَ فَيَقْتَتِلُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَيُقْتَلُ مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ قَالَ أَبُو كَامِلٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ وَقَفْتُ أَنَا وَأُبَىُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ فِي ظِلِّ أُجُمِ حَسَّانَ

“The Hour will not begin until the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold and people fight over it, and out of every ten, nine will be killed.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَحْسِرَ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَيَقْتَتِلُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُقْتَلُ مِنْ كُلِّ عَشَرَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Euphrates river will recede, revealing a mountain of gold. People will fight over it, and for every one hundred ninety or ninety-nine, all of them will think they will be saved."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَحْسِرُ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَيَقْتَتِلُ النَّاسُ فَيُقْتَلُ مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٍ تِسْعُونَ أَوْ قَالَ تِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ كُلُّهُمْ يَرَى أَنَّهُ يَنْجُو

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The Euphrates River will recede to uncover a mountain of gold, or the Hour will not come until the Euphrates River recedes to uncover a mountain of gold and people fight over it, and those who fight over it will be killed, and from every hundred, ninety-nine will be killed. O son, if you reach that time, do not be among those who fight over it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَحْسِرُ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَحْسِرَ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَيَقْتَتِلَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ فَيُقْتَلَ مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ يَا بُنَيَّ فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَهُ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِمَّنْ يُقَاتِلُ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A time will come upon you when the Euphrates river will recede and a mountain of gold will appear. People will fight over it, and for every hundred, ninety-nine will be killed." He said, "O my son, if you live to see that, do not be among those who fight for it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «سَيَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ زَمَانٌ يَحْسُرُ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَيَقْتَتِلُ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ فَيُقْتَلُ مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ» قَالَ «يَا بُنَيَّ إِنْ أَدْرَكْتَهُ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِمَّنْ يُقَاتِلُ عَلَيْهِ»

“The Hour will not begin until the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold and people fight over it, and out of every ten, nine will be killed.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4046)

عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَحْسُرَ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَيَقْتَتِلُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُقْتَلُ مِنْ كُلِّ عَشْرَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ»

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ لا تقوم الساعة حتى يحسر الفرات عن جبل من ذهب فيقتتل الناس فيقتل من كل ألف تسع مِئَة

"لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَحْسِرَ الفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِن ذَهَب يَقْتَتِلُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُقتَلُ مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ وتِسْعُونَ، ويَقُولُ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُم: لَعَلىَّ أكُوَنُ الذى أَنْجُو".

"يَحْسرُ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَيَقْتَتِلُونَ عَلَيْهِ، فَيُقْتَلُ مِن كُلِّ مِائَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ، وَلَا تَقُومُ السَّاعةُ إِلَّا نَهَارًا".
