When this verse was revealed:" And warn thy nearest kindred," the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set off towards a rock of the hill and ascended the highest of the rocks and then called: 0 sons of 'Abd Manaf! I am a warner; my similitude and your similitude is like a man who saw the enemy and went to guard his people, but, being afraid they might get there before him, he shouted: Be on your guard!

انْطَلَقَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى رَضْمَةٍ مِنْ جَبَلٍ فَعَلاَ أَعْلاَهَا حَجَرًا ثُمَّ نَادَى يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافَاهْ إِنِّي نَذِيرٌ إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُمْ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ رَأَى الْعَدُوَّ فَانْطَلَقَ يَرْبَأُ أَهْلَهُ فَخَشِيَ أَنْ يَسْبِقُوهُ فَجَعَلَ يَهْتِفُ يَا صَبَاحَاهْ

[AI] When the verse "And warn your closest relatives" [Surah Ash-Shu'ara, 214] was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he went to a valley in a mountain, climbed to its highest point, and called out, or he said, "O family of 'Abd Manaf, I am a warner warning you. Indeed, my example and your example are like that of a man who sees the enemy and rushes to protect his family, shouting or calling out, 'O morning!'".

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} [الشعراء 214] انْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى رَضْمَةٍ مِنْ جَبَلٍ فَعَلَا أَعْلَاهَا ثُمَّ نَادَى أَوْ قَالَ يَا آلَ عَبْدِ مَنَافَاهُ إِنِّي نَذِيرٌ إِنَّ مَثَلِي وَمَثَلَكُمْ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ رَأَى الْعَدُوَّ فَانْطَلَقَ يَرْبَأُ أَهْلَهُ يُنَادِي أَوْ قَالَ يَهْتِفُ يَا صَبَاحَاهْ

[AI] About Kabeesah ibn Mukhariq and Zuhāyr ibn Amr, they said: When the verse "And warn your nearest kindred" (Surah Ash-Shu'ara, 214) was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ climbed a mountain and stood on top of a rock and began calling out, "O children of 'Abd Manaf, I am only a warner, and my example and yours is like a man who sees the enemy approaching and goes to protect his family, fearful that they might overtake him." He kept calling out and raising his voice, "O morning hours!"

عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ وَزُهَيْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَا لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} [الشعراء 214] صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَقْمَةً مِنْ جَبَلٍ عَلَى أَعْلَاهَا حَجَرٌ فَجَعَلَ يُنَادِي يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ إِنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُمْ كَرَجُلٍ رَأَى الْعَدُوَّ فَذَهَبَ يَرْبَأُ أَهْلَهُ فَخَشِيَ أَنْ يَسْبِقُوهُ فَجَعَلَ يُنَادِي وَيَهْتِفُ يَا صَبَاحَاهْ

[AI] "Narrated by Qabeesah ibn Makhariq al-Hilali and Zuhayr ibn Amr: When this verse {And warn your closest kindred} was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ, the Prophet ﷺ went to a mountain called Radmah and climbed to the top of it, then he said, 'O sons of Abdul Muttalib, I am a warner to you. My example is like the example of a man who saw the enemy approaching and rushed to protect his family, fearing that they would be harmed before he reached them. He began to call out, 'O morning! O morning! Have you come? Have you come?'"

عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ الْهِلَالِيِّ وَزُهَيْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَا لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} انْطَلَقَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى رَضْمَةٍ مِنْ جَبَلٍ فَعَلَا أَعْلَاهَا حَجَرًا ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ إِنِّي نَذِيرٌ لَكُمْ إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُمْ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ رَأَى الْعَدُوَّ فَانْطَلَقَ يَصُدُّ أَهْلَهُ فَخَشِيَ أَنْ يَسْبِقُوهُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَجَعَلَ يَهْتِفُ يَا صَبَاحَاهُ يَا صَبَاحَاهُ أَتَيْتُمْ أَتَيْتُمْ»

[AI] And about Qabeesa ibn Makhariq al-Hilali, he said: When this verse was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ {And warn your closest kindred}, the Prophet of Allah ﷺ went to a mount called Rakhma, climbed to its summit, and said, "O sons of Abd Manaf, I am a warner. My example and your example is like that of a man who sees the enemy coming and hurries to his family to protect them, fearing that they might be harmed. He then calls out, 'O my companions, O my companions, you have been attacked, you have been attacked.'"

وَعَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ الْهِلَالِيِّ قَالَا لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} انْطَلَقَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى رَخْمَةٍ مِنْ جَبَلٍ فَعَلَا أَعْلَاهَا حَجَرًا ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ إِنِّي نَذِيرٌ إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُم كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ رَأَى الْعَدُوَّ فَانْطَلَقَ يَرْبَأُ أَهْلَهُ فَخَشِيَ أَنْ يَسْبِقُوهُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَجَعَلَ يَهْتِفُ يَا صَاحِبَاهُ يَا صَاحِبَاهُ أُتِيْتُمْ أُتِيْتُمْ

[AI] About Qabeesa bin Makhariq and Zuhair bin Amr said: When this verse was revealed, "And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred" [Quran 26:214], the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , went to a high rock and climbed to the top of it. Then he said, "O sons of Abdul Manaf, I am only a warner, my example is like yours. It is like a man who saw the enemy coming and went to protect his family. He was afraid that they would reach his family before him." Then he started calling out, "O morning!"
