"I said to Abu Sa'eed: 'One of us performs Salat and we do not know how (much) we prayed.' So he said: 'Messenger of Allah (S) said: "When one of you performs Salat and he does now know how (much) he prayed then let him perform two prostrations while he is sitting."

قُلْتُ لأَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَحَدُنَا يُصَلِّي فَلاَ يَدْرِي كَيْفَ صَلَّى فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَيْفَ صَلَّى فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ وَابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَعَائِشَةَ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

Messenger of Allah (S) said: "Indeed the Shaitan comes to one of you in his Salat confusing him until he does now know how much he has prayed. When one of you experiences that then let him perform two prostrations while sitting."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْتِي أَحَدَكُمْ فِي صَلاَتِهِ فَيَلْبِسُ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى لاَ يَدْرِي كَمْ صَلَّى فَإِذَا وَجَدَ ذَلِكَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If one of you is not sure about his prayer, let him estimate and prostrate twice after he has finished."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلاَتِهِ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ وَيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ مَا يَفْرُغُ

“One of us prays and he does not know how many (Rak’ah) he has prayed.” He said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When anyone of you prays and does not know how many he has prayed, let him perform two prostrations while he is sitting.’”

أَحَدُنَا يُصَلِّي فَلاَ يَدْرِي كَمْ صَلَّى فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَمْ صَلَّى فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘If anyone of you is uncertain about his prayer, let him try to do what is correct then let him prostrate twice.’” Tanafisi said: "This is the basic rule, and no one is able to reject it."

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلاَةِ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ الصَّوَابَ ثُمَّ يَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ قَالَ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ هَذَا الأَصْلُ وَلاَ يَقْدِرُ أَحَدٌ يَرُدُّهُ

Messenger of Allah (S) said: "Indeed the Shaitan comes to one of you in his Salat confusing him until he does now know how much he has prayed. When one of you experiences that then let him perform two prostrations while sitting." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 397)

أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْتِي أَحَدَكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ وَهُوَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَيَلْبِسُ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى لَا يَدْرِيَ كَمْ صَلَّى فَإِذَا وَجَدَ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ

[AI] From the Prophet, ﷺ , he said: Indeed, Satan comes to one of you during his prayer, and he does not know whether he has increased or decreased [his prayer]. So, when one of you finds that, let him perform two prostrations.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْتِي أَحَدَكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَدْرِي أَزَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْتِي أَحَدَكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَيَلْبِسُ عَلَيْهِ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَدْرِي أَزَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ

[AI] Narrated Abu Sa'id and raised it to the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "If a man doubts in his prayer whether he has increased or decreased (the number of raka'at), he should perform two prostrations while sitting."

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِذَا أَوْهَمَ الرَّجُلُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ أَزَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you prays, let him cover himself for his prayer, even if it is with an arrow."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ لِصَلَاتِهِ وَلَوْ بِسَهْمٍ

[AI] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: "If any of you is doubtful about his prayer, let him correct it, then let him offer the salutation, and then let him prostrate twice."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ الصَّوَابَ ثُمَّ لْيُسَلِّمْ ثُمَّ لْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ»

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أحدكم فلم يدر ثنتين صلى أم ثلاثًا فليسجد سجدتين وهُو جالس

[AI] On the authority of Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, he reported from the Prophet ﷺ who said, "If a person becomes uncertain during their prayer as to whether they have added something or omitted something, then they should perform two prostrations (Sajdatayn) while still seated."

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ يَرْفَعُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا وَهِمَ الرَّجُلُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ أَزَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ»

[AI] "If one of you is unsure during his prayer, let him seek clarity within himself and complete it, then let him prostrate two prostrations after the salaam while sitting."

«إِذَا وَهِمَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ الصَّوَابَ فِي نَفْسِهِ فَلْيُتِمَّ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ التَّسْلِيمِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any one of you doubts his prayer, then he should strive to do what is right and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ الصَّوَابَ وَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ»

“One of us prays and he does not know how many (Rak’ah) he has prayed.” He said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When anyone of you prays and does not know how many he has prayed, let him perform two prostrations while he is sitting.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1204)

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قُلْتُ يُصَلِّي أَحَدُنَا فَلَا يَدْرِي كَمْ صَلَّى؟ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَمْ صَلَّى فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you prays and forgets or does not know if they have added or missed something, they should perform two prostrations while sitting."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَنَسِيَ» أَوْ قَالَ «فَلَمْ يَدْرِ زَادَ أَوْ نَقَصَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you makes a mistake in his prayer and does not know whether he has added or missed something, he should perform two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting." The rest of them disagreed with him.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا سَهَا أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَدْرِي زَادَ أَوْ نَقَصَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ» خَالَفَهُ بَقِيَّةُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If anyone of you becomes uncertain during his prayer whether he has completed it or missed out something, he should perform two prostrations while sitting." Ikrimah bin Ammar contradicted them.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا سَهَا أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَدْرِي زَادَ أَوْ نَقَصَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ» خَالَفَهُمْ عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you prays and does not know if he has added or subtracted, he should perform two prostrations while sitting and then say the salaam."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَدْرِي أَزَادَ أَوْ نَقَصَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا لَبَّسَ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ أَثَلَاثًا صَلَّى أَمْ أَرْبَعًا فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If one of you is not sure about his prayer, let him estimate and prostrate twice after he has finished." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1241)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ وَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَمَا يَفْرُغُ»

"إذا سَهَا أحدُكم في صلاتِه فلا يدْرى أزَادَ أمْ نقصَ؟ فليسْجدْ سجْدتين وهُوَ جَالِسٌ، ثُمَّ يُسَلِّم" .

"إذا صلّى أحدُكُم فلم يدرِ أزادَ أمْ نقصَ؟ فليَسْجُدْ سجدَتَينْ وهو جالسٌ، ثُمَّ يسلِّم له".

"يَأتِى الشَّيْطَانُ فَيَلْبسُ عَلَيْهِ فِى صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَدْرِى أَزَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ، فَإِذَا وَجَدَ ذَلِكَ فَليَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْن وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ".

"عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: إِذَا شَكَّ أحَدُكُمْ في صَلاَتهِ فَليَتَوَخَّ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أنَّهُ قَدْ أتَمَّ، ثمَّ يَسْجُد سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ".
