Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya ibn Said said that Sulayman ibn Yasar told him that Abu Ayyub al-Ansari once set off to do hajj and then, when he reached an-Naziya, on the road to Makka, his riding beasts strayed. He reached Umar ibn al-Khattab on the day of sacrifice and told him what had happened and Umar said, "Do what someone doing umra would do, and then you can leave ihram, and then when the hajj next comes upon you, do it and sacrifice whatever animal is easy for you ."
[AI] Abu al-Abbas narrated from al-Rabi from al-Shafii from Malik that 'Umar bin al-Khattab asked Abu Ayyub al-Ansari about his journey for Hajj. He said, "I traveled until I reached the wilderness on the way to Makkah and lost my way. Then I arrived at 'Umar bin al-Khattab on the day of sacrifice and told him about it. 'Umar said to him, 'Do as the Mu'tamir (one who is performing 'Umrah) does. Then, when the Hajj season approaches you, join the Hajj and offer whatever sacrificial animal is easy for you.'"

[AI] Abu Al-Abbas Al-Asamm narrated to us, Rabee’ narrated to us, Al-Shafi'i narrated to us, and Malik reported. Abu Ahmad Al-Mihrajani narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ja'far Al-Muzakki narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al-Abdi narrated to us, Ibn Bukair narrated to us, and Malik reported from Yahya ibn Sa'id from Sulaiman ibn Yasar that Ibn Umar, Marwan, and Ibn Zubair were consulted regarding Ibn Huzabah Al-Makhzoomi who fell ill during his journey to Makkah while being in the state of Ihram. It was forbidden for him to seek treatment that is necessary or to redeem himself. However, if he recovers, he must perform Umrah, release himself from his state of Ihram, and then he must perform Hajj the following year, and he must also offer a sacrifice.
