"What kept you from praying? Are you not a Muslim man?" He said: "Yes, but I had already prayed with my family." The Messenger of Allah ﷺsaid to him: "When you come you should pray with the people even if you have already prayed."

أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَذَّنَ بِالصَّلاَةِ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ وَمِحْجَنٌ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ أَلَسْتَ بِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ بَلَى وَلَكِنِّي كُنْتُ قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فِي أَهْلِي فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا جِئْتَ فَصَلِّ مَعَ النَّاسِ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ قَدْ صَلَّيْتَ

"What kept you from praying? Are you not a Muslim man?" He said: "Yes, but I had already prayed with my family." The Messenger of Allah ﷺsaid to him: "When you come you should pray with the people even if you have already prayed." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 857)

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from a man of the Bani'd-Dil called Busr ibn Mihjan from his father Mihjan that he was in a gathering with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the call to prayer was made. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rose and prayed and then returned. Mihjan remained sitting and did not pray with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What prevented you from praying with the people? Aren't you a muslim?" He said, "Of course, Messenger of Allah, but I have already prayed with my family." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you come, pray with the people, even if you have prayed already."

[AI] He was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the call to prayer was made. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and prayed, then he returned and there was a water jug in his gathering just as it was before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "What prevented you from praying with the people? Are you not a Muslim?" He replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, but I had already prayed with my family." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you come, pray with the people even if you have already prayed." 3639 Abu Zakariya Ibn Abi Ishaq informed us, Abu Al-Abbas reported to us, An-Nu'man reported to us from Malik, who mentioned it in the same way.

"إذَا جئتَ فَصَلّ مَعَ النَّاسِ وإنْ كنْتَ قدْ صَلَّيتَ".

"إِذا دَخَلتَ مَسْجدًا فصَلِّ مع الناسِ وإنْ كنتَ قَدْ صلَّيتَ" .
