"عَنْ جُبَيْر بن مُطْعِمٍ قَالَ: ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْغُسْلُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ فَقَالَ: أَمَّا أَنَا فَأُفْرغُ عَلَى رَأَسِى ثَلَاثًا، وَفِى لَفظٍ: فَأُفِيضُ عَلَى رَأسِى ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ هَكَذَا، وَوَصفَ زُهَيْر قَالَ: فَجَعَلَ بَاطِنَ كَفِّهِ مِمَّا يَلِى السَّمَاءَ وَظَاهِرهُمَا مِمَّا يَلِى الأَرْضَ".

[Machine] It was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about performing ghusl from janabah (major impurity). So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for me, I pour water on my head three times like this." Zuhair described it by saying, "He cupped the palms of his hands and poured water from what is higher than the sky onto them, and poured it from what is lower than the earth onto his back."
