"الإِسلامُ أن يُسْلِم قَلبُكَ، وَأَنْ يَسْلَمَ المُسْلمُونَ من لسانك ويَدِكَ قيل: فأيُّ الإسلام أفضل؟ قال: الهجرةِ، قيل: وما الهجرةُ؟ قال: أن تَهجُرَ السوءَ قيل: فأيُّ الهجرةِ أفضلُ؟ قال: الجهادُ، قيل: وما الجهادُ؟ قال: أن تقاتلَ الكفَّارَ إِذا لَقيتَهُم، قيل: فأيّ الجهادُ أَفْضل؟ قال: مَنْ عُقِرَ جَوَادُهُ، وَأُهْرِيقَ دَمُهُ، ثم عَمَلانِ هُمَا أفْضَلُ الأعْمَالِ إِلَّا من عَمِلَ بِمِثْلِهِمَا: حَجَّةٌ مبرورة أَو عمرة" .
"Which deed is best?" He said: "Faith in which there is no doubt, Jihad in which there is no stealing of the spoils of war, and Hjijatun Mabrurah."[1] It was said: "Which prayer is best? He said:"That in which there is ling Qunut (standing)." It was said: "Which charity is best?" He said: "The poor's night." It was said: "Which Hijrah (emigration) is best?" He said: "One who shuns (Hahara) that which Allah has forbidden." It was said: "One who strives against the idolaters with his life and his wealth. "It was said: "Which death is best?" He said: "One who sheds his blood while his horse's feet are cut with swords." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2526)

[Machine] "A man said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is Islam?' He ﷺ said, 'To surrender your heart to Allah and for the Muslims to be safe from your tongue and hand.' He then asked, 'Which Islam is the best?' He ﷺ said, 'Iman (faith).' He asked, 'And what is Iman?' He ﷺ said, 'To believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Day of Resurrection.' He asked, 'Which Iman is the best?' He ﷺ said, 'Hijrah (migration).' He asked, 'And what is Hijrah?' He ﷺ said, 'To abandon what is evil.' He asked, 'Which Hijrah is the best?' He ﷺ said, 'Jihad (striving).' He asked, 'And what is Jihad?' He ﷺ said, 'To fight the disbelievers when you meet them.' He asked, 'Which Jihad is the best?' He ﷺ said, 'The one who fights with his wealth and life.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, 'These two actions are the best of deeds, except for those who perform deeds similar to them, such as a Hajj that is accepted or an 'Umrah that is performed sincerely.'"

The Prophet ﷺ was asked: Which of the actions is better ? He replied: Standing for long time (in prayer). He was again asked: Which alms is better ? He replied: The alms given by a man possessing small property acquired by his labour. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1449)

"أَسْلِمْ تَسْلَمْ، قِيلَ: وَمَا الإِسْلامُ؟ قَال: تُسْلِمُ قَلْبَكَ لله، وَيَسْلَمُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِكَ وَيَدك، قَال: فَأَيُّ الإِسْلامِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قال: الإيمان، قال: فما الإِيمانُ؟ قَال: تُؤمِنُ بالله، ومَلائكَتِه، وَكُتُبِه، وَرسُله، وبالْبَعث بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ، قَال: فَأَيُّ الإيَمانِ أفْضَلُ؟ قَال: الْهِجْرَة أَفْضَلُ؟ : وَمَا الْهِجْرَةُ؟ قَال: أنْ تَهْجُرَ السُّوءَ، قَال: فأَيُّ الْهَجْرَة أفْضَلُ؟ قَال: الجِهَادُ، قَال: وَمَا الجِهَادُ؟ قَال: أنْ تُقَاتِلَ الكُفَّارَ إِذَا لَقِيتَهُمْ ولا تَغُلَّ وَلَا تَجبُنْ، ثُمَّ عَملانِ هما مِنْ أفْضَلِ الأعْمَالِ إلَّا مَنْ عَمِل عَمَلًا بِمِثْلِهِما، حَجَّةٌ مَبْرورةٌ، أوْ عُمْرَةٌ مَبْرورة".
