"The Prophet [SAW] only had the eyes of those people gouged out, because they had gouged out the eyes of the herdsmen."
إِنَّمَا سَمَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَعْيُنَ أُولَئِكَ لأَنَّهُمْ سَمَلُوا أَعْيُنَ الرُّعَاةِ

Anas reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ pierced their eyes because they had pierced the eyes of the shepherds.
إِنَّمَا سَمَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَعْيُنَ أُولَئِكَ لأَنَّهُمْ سَمَلُوا أَعْيُنَ الرِّعَاءِ
"Messenger of Allah only poked out their eyes because they had poked out the eyes of the camel driver." Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadfth is Gharib. We do not know anyone who mentioned it other than this shaikh, from Yazid bin Zurai. And it is in accordance with the meaning of Allah's saying: "And wounds equal for equal" It has been reported that Muhammad bin Sirin said: "The Prophet only did this to them before the legislated punishments were revealed."
إِنَّمَا سَمَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَعْيُنَهُمْ لأَنَّهُمْ سَمَلُوا أَعْيُنَ الرُّعَاةِ
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ made his followers beautiful in appearance because they made the eyes of the shepherds beautiful."
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا سَمَلَ أَعْيُنَ الْعُرَنِيِّينَ لِأَنَّهُمْ سَمَلُوا أَعْيُنَ الرِّعَاءِ»
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ only dyed their eyes because they dyed the eyes of the herd."
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا سَمَّرَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ لِأَنَّهُمْ سَمَّرُوا أَعْيَنَ الرِّعَاءِ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ only put collyrium in the eyes of the people who had put collyrium in their eyes.
«إِنَّمَا سَمَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَعْيُنَ الْعِرْنِينَ لِأَنَّهُمْ سَمَلُوا أَعْيُنَ الرُّعَاةِ»
