"Which deed is best?" he said: "Take to fasting, for there is nothing equal to it."
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَىُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لاَ عِدْلَ لَهُ
"Which deed is best?" he said: "Take to fasting, for there is nothing equal to it."
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَىُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لاَ عِدْلَ لَهُ
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, guide me to a deed." He said, "You should fast, for there is no equal to it."
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دُلَّنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ قَالَ «عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا عِدْلَ لَهُ»
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, guide me to a deed." He said, "You should observe fasting, as it has no equal."
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دُلَّنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ قَالَ «عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا عِدْلَ لَهُ»
"Which deed is best?" he said: "Take to fasting, for there is nothing equal to it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2222)
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا عِدْلَ لَهُ»
"عَلَيكَ بِالصَّومِ، فإِنَّهُ لَا عِدْل لَهُ".
