The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined in the expedition to Tabuk the noon prayer with the afternoon prayer and the sunset prayer with the 'Isha' prayer. He (one of the narrators) said: What prompted him to do that? He (Mu'adh) replied that he (the Holy Prophet) wanted that his Ummah should not be put to (unnecessary) hardship.  

مسلم:٧٠٦b – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبٍ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ حَدَّثَنَا عَامِرُ بْنُ وَاثِلَةَ أَبُو الطُّفَيْلِ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ قَالَ

جَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَبَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ مَا حَمَلَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَرَادَ أَنْ لاَ يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ gathered the people between Dhuhr and Asr prayers in Madinah, without being on a journey or fearing anything. I said, "O Abu Al-Abbas, why did he do that?" He said, "He wanted not to burden anyone from his ummah."  

أحمد:٢٥٥٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

جَمَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي غَيْرِ سَفَرٍ وَلا خَوْفٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ وَلِمَ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أَحَدًا مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on a journey, which was the expedition of Tabuk. He combined the prayers of Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. I asked, "What made him do that?" He said, "He wanted to make it easier for his ummah."  

أحمد:٢١٩٩٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطُّفَيْلِ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ قَالَ

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered in a meal that he undertook during a battle between Dhuhr and Asr and Maghrib and Isha. So I asked him, what led him to do that? He said, he intended not to burden his nation."

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ جَمَعَ فِي سَفْرَةٍ سَافَرَهَا وَذَلِكَ فِي غَزْوَةٍ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ» فَقُلْتُ لَهُ فَمَا حَمَلَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ
