By Allah, the sword of Allah did not reach the neck of the enemy of Allah as it was required to reach. Thereupon Abu Bakr said: Do you say this to the old man of the Quraish and their chief? Then he came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon'him) and informed him of this. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Abu Bakr, you have perhaps annoyed them and if you annoyed them you have in fact annoyed your Lord. So Abu Bakr came to them and said: O my brothers, I have annoyed you. They said: No, our brother, may Allah forgive you

[Machine] Abu Bakr, do you claim that this is the sheikh of the Quraysh and its leader? The Prophet ﷺ was informed of that, and he said, "O Abu Bakr, you may have angered them. If you have angered them, then you have surely angered your Lord." He returned to them and said, "O our brothers, perhaps you have become angry." They said, "No, O Abu Bakr, may Allah forgive you."

[Machine] Abu Sufyan passed by Salman, Suhayb, and Bilal and they said, "What did the swords of Allah take from the neck of this man? Whatever they took, he deserved it." Abu Bakr replied, "Are you speaking about this noble and distinguished leader of the Quraysh?" Then, he went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him about what they had said. The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Abu Bakr, perhaps you angered them. By the One in whose hand is my soul, if you have angered them, then you have surely angered your Lord." Abu Bakr returned to them and said, "My brothers, have I angered you?" They replied, "No, Abu Bakr. May Allah forgive you."
