muslim:1714a – ʿAlī b. Ḥujr al-Saʿdī > ʿAlī b. Mushir > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > ʿĀʾishah

Hind. the daughter of 'Utba, wife of Abu Sufyan, came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Abu Sufyan is a miserly person. He does not give adequate maintenance for me and my children, but (I am constrained) to take from his wealth (some part of it) without his knowledge. Is there any sin for me? Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Take from his property what is customary which may suffice you and your children.  

مسلم:١٧١٤a – حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

دَخَلَتْ هِنْدٌ بِنْتُ عُتْبَةَ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ لاَ يُعْطِينِي مِنَ النَّفَقَةِ مَا يَكْفِينِي وَيَكْفِي بَنِيَّ إِلاَّ مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْ مَالِهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمِهِ فَهَلْ عَلَىَّ فِي ذَلِكَ مِنْ جُنَاحٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خُذِي مِنْ مَالِهِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَيَكْفِي بَنِيكِ

[Machine] Hind, the mother of Muawiya and the wife of Abu Sufyan, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and does not provide me and my children with enough. I only take from him what I can take, and he does not know. Is there any blame on me regarding this?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children in a manner that is acceptable."  

الدارمي:٢٣٠٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ أَنْبَأََنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ هِنْدًا أُمَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ امْرَأَةَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَبَنِيَّ إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ جُنَاحٌ؟ فَقَالَ «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»  

tabarani:21736 – Aḥmad b. ʿAmr al-Khallāl al-Makkī > Muḥammad b. Abū ʿUmar al-ʿAdanī > Wakīʿ b. al-Jarrāḥ > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > ʿĀʾishah

'Hind came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and he does not give me enough for me and my child, except for what I take from his wealth without him realizing.' He said: Take what is sufficient for you and your child, on a reasonable basis.' " (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2293)  

الطبراني:٢١٧٣٦ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ ثنا وَكِيعُ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

جَاءَتْ هِنْدٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلَا يُعْطِينِي وَوَلَدِي مَا يَكْفِينِي إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ فَقَالَ «خُذِي لَكِ وَلِوَلَدِكَ مَا يَكْفِيكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»
