Allah's Apostle ﷺ found an old man walking between his two sons supported by them, whereupon Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: What is the matter with him? He (the narrator) said: Messenger of Allah, they are his sons and there is upon him the (fulfilment) of the vow, whereupon Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: Ride, old man, for Allah is not in need of you and your vow.  

مسلم:١٦٤٣a – وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةُ وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَمْرٍو وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَدْرَكَ شَيْخًا يَمْشِي بَيْنَ ابْنَيْهِ يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَيْهِمَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا شَأْنُ هَذَا قَالَ ابْنَاهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ نَذْرٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ارْكَبْ أَيُّهَا الشَّيْخُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ عَنْكَ وَعَنْ نَذْرِكَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِقُتَيْبَةَ وَابْنِ حُجْرٍ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ came across an old man walking between his two sons, leaning on them. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What is the matter with this old man?" His sons replied, "O Messenger of Allah, he had made a vow, so he told him to ride, saying that Allah is rich and does not need you or your vow."  

أحمد:٨٨٥٩ – حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
