[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Wrongdoings are darkness on the Day of Resurrection. And beware of committing obscenity, for indeed Allah does not like obscenity and vulgarity. And beware of covetousness, for indeed covetousness destroyed those who came before you. It commanded them to cut off relations, so they cut them off. And it commanded them to be stingy, so they were stingy. And it commanded them to commit sins and they committed sins." A man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Which Islam is better?" He ﷺ said, "That you save Muslims from your tongue and your hands." Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Which migration is better?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "That you migrate from what your Lord dislikes. Migration has two types: migration of a person who witnesses it, and migration of the one who follows in his footsteps. The migration of the one who follows in his footsteps is that he should respond when he is called, and he should obey when he is commanded. And the one who witnesses is greater in virtue and reward."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الظُّلْمُ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْفُحْشَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْفُحْشَ وَلَا التَّفَحُّشَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ والشُّحَّ فَإِنَّ الشُّحَّ أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْقَطِيعَةِ فَقَطَعُوا وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالْبُخْلِ فَبَخِلُوا وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالْفُجُورِ فَفَجَرُوا قَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ أَنْ يَسْلَمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِكَ وَيَدِكَ فَقَامَ ذَاكَ أَوْ آخَرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ أَنْ تَهْجُرَ مَا كَرِهَ رَبُّكَ وَالْهِجْرَةُ هِجْرَتَانِ هِجْرَةُ الْحَاضِرِ وَالْبَادِي فَهِجْرَةُ الْبَادِي أَنْ يُجِيبَ إِذَا دُعِيَ وَيُطِيعَ إِذَا أُمِرَ وَالْحَاضِرِ أَعْظَمُهُمَا بَلِيَّةً وَأَفْضَلُهُمَا أَجْرًا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Beware of greed, for it destroyed those who came before you. They made unlawful things lawful for themselves and they unlawfully seized the rights of others. Beware of cutting off family ties, for it leads to widespread corruption. Beware of immorality, for Allah does not love immorality or those who commit it.

Then a man stood up and asked: O Messenger of Allah, which Muslims are the best? He answered: Those from whom other Muslims are safe from their tongues and hands.

Another man stood up and asked: O Messenger of Allah, which jihad is the best? He answered: The one who fights against his own desires and sacrifices his life for the sake of Allah.

[Abdullah bin Ahmad said]: My father said, and Yazid bin Harun also said in his narration, then someone called him, whether it was the same person or someone else, and asked: O Messenger of Allah, which hijrah (migration) is the best? He answered: To leave what your Lord dislikes. There are two types of migrations: migration from one place to another, and migration from sin to obedience. As for the migration from one place to another, it is when a person obeys when they are commanded and responds when they are called. As for the migration from sin to obedience, it is the most difficult and most rewarding migration.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ فَإِنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالظُّلْمِ فَظَلَمُوا وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالْقَطِيعَةِ فَقَطَعُوا وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالْفُجُورِ فَفَجَرُوا وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالظُّلْمَ فَإِنَّ الظُّلْمَ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْفُحْشَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْفُحْشَ وَلَا التَّفَحُّشَ قَالَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ قَالَ فَقَامَ هُوَ أَوْ آخَرُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْجِهَادِأَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ مَنْ عَقَرَ جَوَادَهُ وَأُهْرِيقَ دَمُهُ [قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ] قَالَ أَبِي وقَالَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ثُمَّ نَادَاهُ هَذَا أَوْ غَيْرُهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ أَنْ تَهْجُرَ مَا كَرِهَ رَبُّكَ وَهُمَا هِجْرَتَانِ هِجْرَةٌ لِلْبَادِي وَهِجْرَةٌ لِلْحَاضِرِ فَأَمَّا هِجْرَةُ الْبَادِي فَيُطِيعُ إِذَا أُمِرَ وَيُجِيبُ إِذَا دُعِيَ وَأَمَّا هِجْرَةُ الْحَاضِرِ فَهِيَ أَشَدُّهُمَا بَلِيَّةً وَأَعْظَمُهُمَا أَجْرًا  

[Machine] "From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: Beware of injustice, for indeed injustice will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. Beware of immorality, for Allah does not love immorality and indecency. Beware of stinginess, for it destroyed those who came before you; it led them to cut off ties of kinship, and they became miserly. Beware of wickedness, for it will cause one to be corrupted.

Then a man stood up and asked: O Messenger of Allah, which aspect of Islam is the best? The Prophet replied: That the Muslims are safe from your tongue and your hand. The man asked again: O Messenger of Allah, which migration is the best? The Prophet replied: To migrate from what Allah dislikes. Migration is of two types: migration with the body and migration with the heart. As for the one who migrates with his body, he obeys when he is commanded, and he responds when he is called. As for the one who migrates with his heart, it is the greatest of the two in terms of affliction, and the greatest of the two in terms of reward."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالظُّلْمَ فَإِنَّ الظُّلْمَ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْفُحْشَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْفُحْشَ وَلَا التَّفَحُّشَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ فَإِنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْقَطِيعَةِ فَقَطَعُوا وَبِالْبُخْلِ فَبَخِلُوا وَبِالْفُجُورِ فَفَجَرُوا قَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ؟ أَنْ يَسْلَمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِكَ وَيَدِكَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ أَوْ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَأَيُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ أَنْ تَهْجُرَ مَا كَرِهَ اللهُ وَالْهِجْرَةُ هِجْرَتَانِ هِجْرَةُ الْحَاضِرِ وَالْبَادِي فَأَمَّا الْبَادِي فَإِنَّهُ يُطِيعُ إِذَا أُمِرَ وَيُجِيبُ إِذَا دُعِيَ وَأَمَّا الْحَاضِرُ فَأَعْظَمُهُمَا بَلِيَّةً وَأَعْظَمُهُمَا أَجْرًا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a speech and said, "Beware of injustice, for indeed, injustice will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. Beware of indecency and obscenity. Beware of greed, for those who came before you were destroyed because of their greed. They cut off ties of kinship and they were miserly. They committed immoral deeds and transgressions." A man stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which aspect of Islam is the best?" He replied, "That the Muslims are safe from your tongue and hand." The man then asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which migration is better?" He replied, "To migrate from what Allah dislikes." The migration has two types: the migration of the one who resides and the migration of the one who travels. The migration of the one who travels is to respond when called upon and to obey when commanded. The migration of the one who resides is greater in difficulty and better in reward. They both fulfill the requirements of this Hadith. This Hadith was narrated by Al-Sha'bi from Ibn Umar in summary, while Abi Kathir Zuhair bin Al-Aqmar Al-Zubaidi heard it from Ali and Abdullah bin Masood, and after them, from the Sahaba (companions of the Prophet). This Hadith is narrated in its entirety by Al-A'mash, from Amr bin Murrah."  

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِيَّاكُمْ وَالظُّلْمَ فَإِنَّ الظُّلْمَ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْفُحْشَ وَالتَّفَحُّشَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِالشُّحِّ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْقَطِيعَةِ فَقَطَعُوا وَالْبُخْلِ فَبَخِلُوا وَبِالْفُجُورِ فَفَجَرُوا» فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ يَسْلَمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِكَ وَيَدِكَ» فَقَالَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ أَوْ غَيْرُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ تَهْجُرَ مَا كَرِهَ رَبُّكَ» قَالَ وَالْهِجْرَةُ هِجْرَتَانِ هِجْرَةُ الْحَاضِرِ وَهِجْرَةُ الْبَادِي فَهِجْرَةُ الْبَادِي أَنْ يُجِيبَ إِذَا دُعِيَ وَيُطِيعَ إِذَا أُمِرَ وَهِجْرَةُ الْحَاضِرِ أَعْظَمُهُمَا بَلِيَّةً وَأَفْضَلُهُمَا أَجْرًا قَدْ خَرَّجَا جَمِيعًا حَدِيثَ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو مُخْتَصَرًا وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ وَقَدِ اتَّفَقَا عَلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ النَّجْرَانِيِّ فَأَمَّا أَبُو كَثِيرٍ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ الْأَقْمَرِ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ فَإِنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا وَعَبْدَ اللَّهِ فَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمَا مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ بِعَيْنِهِ عِنْدَ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Beware of oppression, for surely oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. And beware of foul language, for Allah does not love foul language or vulgar speech. And beware of stinginess, for it destroyed those who came before you. They were commanded to be frugal, so they became stingy. They were commanded to be wicked, so they became wicked. Then a man stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which aspect of Islam is the best?" Shu'bah said in his narration: The Prophet ﷺ answered, "That the Muslims are safe from his tongue and his hand." And Al-Mas'udi said: That the Muslims are safe from his tongue and his hand. Then that man stood up again or someone else stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which migration is the best?" He replied, "To abandon what your Lord dislikes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said: Migration is of two types: migration from one residence to another, and migration from one locality to another. As for the latter, it is the best and most deserving of reward. And Al-Mas'udi said: A man called out to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, which martyrs are the best?" He replied, "Those who have their horses crippled and their blood shed."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالظُّلْمَ فَإِنَّ الظُّلْمَ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْفُحْشَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْفُحْشَ وَلَا التَّفَحُّشَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ فَإِنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْقَطِيعَةِ فَقَطَعُوا وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالْبُخْلِ فَبَخِلُوا وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالْفُجُورِ فَفَجَرُوا فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أِيُّ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ وَقَالَ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ أَنْ يَسْلَمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ فَقَامَ ذَلِكَ أَوْ غَيْرُهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أِيُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ أَنْ تَهْجُرَ مَا كَرِهَ رَبُّكَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْهِجْرَةُ هِجْرَتَانِ هِجْرَةُ الْحَاضِرِ وَهِجْرَةُ الْبَادِي فَأَمَّا الْبَادِي فَيُجِيبُ إِذَا دُعِيَ وَيُطِيعُ إِذَا أُمِرَ وَأَمَّا الْحَاضِرُ فَهُوَ أَعْظَمُهُمَا بَلِيَّةً وَأَفْضَلُهُمَا أَجْرًا وَقَالَ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ وَنَادَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أِيُّ الشُّهَدَاءِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ أَنْ يُعْقَرَ جَوَادُكَ وَيُهْرَاقَ دَمُكَ
