ذِكْرُ كِتْبَةِ اللَّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلَا الْأَجْرَ لِلْمُنْفِقَةِ عَلَى أَوْلَادِ زَوْجِهَا مِنْ مَالِهَا

ibnhibban:4246 – Abū Yaʿlá > Abū Khaythamah > Yaʿqūb b. Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd from my father > Ibn Isḥāq > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > Zaynab b. Um Salamah > Ummihā Um Salamah

[Machine] I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Do I have any reward in spending on the family of Abu Salamah? For I spend on them while they are only my in-laws and not my own family. Should I continue doing this or not?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes, you will have a reward for what you spend on them."  

ابن حبّان:٤٢٤٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهَا أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ

قُلْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ هَلْ لِي مِنْ أَجْرٍ فِي بَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةَ؟ فَإِنِّي أُنْفِقُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَإِنَّمَا هُمْ بَنِيَّ فَلَسْتُ بِتَارِكَتِهِمْ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا تَقُولُ كَانَ لِي أَجْرٌ أَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ لَكِ فِيهِمْ أَجْرٌ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ»

(the daughter of Um Salama) My mother said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Shall I receive a reward if I spend for the sustenance of Abu Salama's offspring, and in fact they are also my sons?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Spend on them and you will get a reward for what you spend on them."  

البخاري:١٤٦٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ {عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ} قَالَتْ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلِيَ أَجْرٌ أَنْ أُنْفِقَ عَلَى بَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةَ إِنَّمَا هُمْ بَنِيَّ فَقَالَ أَنْفِقِي عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَكِ أَجْرُ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ  

bukhari:5369 – Mūsá b. Ismāʿīl > Wuhayb > Hishām from his father > Zaynab Āb.ah Abū Salamah

I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Shall I get a reward (in the Hereafter) if I spend on the children of Abu Salama and do not leave them like this and like this (i.e., poor) but treat them like my children?" The Prophet said, "Yes, you will be rewarded for that which you will spend on them."  

البخاري:٥٣٦٩ – حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ

عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ لِي مِنْ أَجْرٍ فِي بَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنْ أُنْفِقَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَسْتُ بِتَارِكَتِهِمْ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا إِنَّمَا هُمْ بَنِيَّ قَالَ نَعَمْ لَكِ أَجْرُ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ

I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whether there is a reward for me if I spend on Abu Salama's sons, and I am not going to abandon them in this state (of helplessness) for they are my sons. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yes. For you is the reward for what you spend on them.  

مسلم:١٠٠١a – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ

I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whether there is a reward for me if I spend on Abu Salama's sons, and I am not going to abandon them in this state (of helplessness) for they are my sons. قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لِي مِنْ أَجْرٍ فِي بَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنْ أُنْفِقَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَسْتُ بِتَارِكَتِهِمْ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا إِنَّمَا هُمْ بَنِيَّ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ لَكَفِيهِمْ أَجْرٌ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ  

ahmad:26642 – ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > Zaynab Āb.ah Abū Salamah > Um Salamah

[Machine] She said, "O Messenger of Allah, my family of Abu Salamah are in my care. They have nothing except what I spend on them, and I am not leaving them any inheritance like this or like that. Will I be rewarded if I spend on them?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Spend on them, for you will be rewarded for what you spend on them."  

أحمد:٢٦٦٤٢ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ بَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةَ فِي حِجْرِي وَلَيْسَ لَهُمْ شَيْءٌ إِلَّا مَا أَنْفَقْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَسْتُ بِتَارِكَتِهِمْ كَذَا وَلَا كَذَا أَفَلِي أَجْرٌ إِنْ أَنْفَقْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْفِقِي عَلَيْهِمْ فَإِنَّ لَكِ أَجْرَ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ  

ahmad:26671 – Ḥammād b. Usāmah > Hishām from his father > Zaynab Āb.ah Abū Salamah > Um Salamah

I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لِي مِنْ أَجْرٍ فِي بَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنْ أُنْفِقَ عَلَيْهِمْ؟ وَلَسْتُ بِتَارِكَتِهِمْ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا إِنَّمَا هُمْ بَنِيَّ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ لَكِ فِيهِمْ أَجْرٌ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ  

bayhaqi:15736 – Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥāfiẓ > Abū al-Walīd > Ibrāhīm b. Abū Ṭālib > Abū Kurayb > Abū Usāmah > Hishām from his father > Zaynab Āb.ah Abū Salamah > Um Salamah

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, do I have a reward for spending on the family of Abu Salamah even though I am not one of them, in this way and that way, knowing that they are only his family?" He said, "Yes, you have a reward for whatever you spend on them."  

البيهقي:١٥٧٣٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ نا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ نا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ نا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لِي أَجْرٌ فِي بَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أُنْفِقُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَسْتُ بِتَارِكَتِهِمْ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا إِنَّمَا هُمْ بَنِيَّ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ لَكِ فِيهِمْ أَجْرُ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ
