A person should not enter into a transaction when his brother (had already entered into but not finalised), and he should not make proposal of marriage upon the proposal already made by his brother, until he permits it.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَبِعِ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى بَيْعِ أَخِيهِ وَلاَ يَخْطُبْ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لَهُ

The Muslim should not purchase in opposition to his brother, and he should not make the proposal of marriage on the proposal already made by his brother.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَسُمِ الْمُسْلِمُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ وَلاَ يَخْطُبْ عَلَى خِطْبَتِهِ

A person should not enter into a transaction when his brother is already making a transaction and he should not make a proposal of marriage when his brother has already made a proposal except when he gives permission.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَبِعِ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى بَيْعِ أَخِيهِ وَلاَ يَخْطُبْ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لَهُ

Abu Hurairah reported the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ as saying “ A man should not seek the hand of a woman in marriage when his brother has already sought her hand.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَخْطُبُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ

The Prophet ﷺ forbade that a man should drink while standing.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَشْرَبَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا

The Messenger of Allah said: "A man is not to sell over his brother's sale, nor is he to propose to whom his brother has proposed."

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَبِيعُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى بَيْعِ أَخِيهِ وَلاَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ

"None of you should propose marriage to a woman when someone else has already proposed to her."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَخْطُبْ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ

the Messenger of Allah said: “A man should not propose to a woman to whom his brother has already proposed.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَخْطُبِ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ

the Messenger of Allah said: “A man should not propose to a woman to whom his brother has already proposed.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَخْطُبِ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ

"A man is not to undersell his brother, nor is he to fry to outhaggle his brother."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَبِيعُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى بَيْعِ أَخِيهِ وَلاَ يَسُومُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ

[AI] About the Prophet ﷺ who said, "A man should not propose marriage to his brother's fiancée."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ «نَهَى عَنْ أَنْ يَخْطُبَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding a man from delivering a sermon on behalf of his brother or selling something on his behalf.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى أَنْيَخْطُبَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ أَوْ يَبِيعَ عَلَى بَيْعِهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "A man should not sell on the sale of his brother, nor propose to marry the betrothed of his brother, except with his permission. And perhaps he will give him permission."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَبِيعُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى بَيْعِ أَخِيهِ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ يَأْذَنَ لَهُ

[AI] The translation of the passage is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: A man should not observe fasting on the day his brother Muslim is observing fasting, nor should he propose marriage to the woman his brother has proposed to."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يَسُومُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَتِهِ

A man must not make proposal of marriage to a woman when his brother has done so already. And he must not offer a price for a thing for which his brother had already offered a price; and a woman must not be combined in marriage with her father's sister, nor with her mother's sister, and a woman must not ask to have her sister divorced in order to deprive her of what belongs to her, but she must marry, because she will have what Allah has decreed for her. [AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "A man should not outbid his brother's bidding, nor propose to a woman who has already been proposed to."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَسْتَامُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَتِهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ forbade a man from feeling envious about his brother's fasting or proposing to the same woman he intends to propose to.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَامَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ أَوْ يَخْطُبَ عَلَى خِطْبَتِهِ

[AI] The messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited a man from drinking while standing. We asked Anas, "What about food?" He replied, "That is even more improper or dirtier." Ibn Bakr said, "Or filthier."

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا قَالَ فَقُلْنَا لِأَنَسٍ فَالطَّعَامُ؟ قَالَ ذَلِكَ أَشَدُّ أَوْ أَنْتَنُ قَالَ ابْنُ بَكْرٍ أَوْ أَخْبَثُ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يَشْتَمِلَ الرَّجُلُ الصَّمَّاءَ وَأَنْ يَحْتَبِيَ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ لَيْسَ عَلَى فَرْجِهِ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a man from proposing or buying while his brother is engaged.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَخْطُبَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ أَوْ يَبْتَاعَ عَلَى بَيْعِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man should not be envious of his brother's fasting, nor should he propose to marry the woman his brother has proposed to, and a woman should not ask for the divorce of her sister in order to benefit from what is in her dowry."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يَسْتَامُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ وَلَا تَسْأَلُ الْمَرْأَةَ طَلَاقَ أُخْتِهَا لِتَكْتَفِئَ مَا فِي صَحْفَتِهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A person should not outbid his brother in buying until he either buys or leaves, and should not propose for marriage to the woman his brother has proposed to until he marries her or gives up."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يَسْتَامُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَشْتَرِيَ أَوْ يَتْرُكَ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَنْكِحَ أَوْ يَذَرَ»

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لا يسم أحدكم على سوم أخيه ولا يخطب على خطبة أخيه

from the Prophet ﷺ that he forbade that a person drinks while standing.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يَشْرَبَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَخْطُبِ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ»

[AI] A man should not compete with his brother's bid, nor propose to his brother's betrothed. Hisham raised it.

«لَا يَسُمِ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ» رَفَعَهُ هِشَامٌ

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "None of you should propose marriage to a woman when someone else has already proposed to her." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3240)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَخْطُبْ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he forbade a person from outbidding his brother in a purchase and from proposing marriage to a woman who has already been proposed to by his brother.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَامَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ وَأَنْ يَخْطُبَ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited a man from proposing to the sister of his brother until he is rejected or given permission.

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَخْطُبَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَرُدَّ أَوْ يَأْذَنَ لَهُ

"لا يَبِيع الرَّجُلُ عَلَى بَيعِ أَخِيهِ، وَلا يَخْطُب عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخيهِ إِلا أَنْ يَأذَنَ لَهُ".

"لا يَبِيع الرجلُ على بَيع أخِيهِ، ولا يسوم عَلى سومِ أخِيهِ".

"لا يزيدُ الرجلُ على بيعِ أخيه، ولا يخطبُ على خِطبَته".

"عَنِ الجَارُود بْنِ الْمُعَلَّى: أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَشْرَبَ الرَّجُلُ قَائمًا".
