ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ الْمُدْحِضِ قَوْلَ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّ هَذَا إِخْبَارٌ دُونَ النَّهْيِ

ibnhibban:4048al-Faḍl b. al-Ḥubāb > Abū al-Walīd > Shuʿbah > Suhayl b. Abū Ṣāliḥ from his father > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ prohibited a person from outbidding his brother in a transaction, or proposing to marry the woman his brother has proposed to.  

ابن حبّان:٤٠٤٨أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ «نَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَامَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ أَوْ يَخْطُبَ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ»

A man must not make proposal of marriage to a woman when his brother has done so already. And he must not offer a price for a thing for which his brother had already offered a price; and a woman must not be combined in marriage with her father's sister, nor with her mother's sister, and a woman must not ask to have her sister divorced in order to deprive her of what belongs to her, but she must marry, because she will have what Allah has decreed for her. أحمد:٩٥١٨حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَسُومُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَىسَوْمِ أَخِيهِ وَلَا يَخْطُبْ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ  

ahmad:9899Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > al-ʿAlāʾ from his father > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "A man should not outbid his brother's bidding, nor propose to a woman who has already been proposed to."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ forbade a man from feeling envious about his brother's fasting or proposing to the same woman he intends to propose to.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَامَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ أَوْ يَخْطُبَ عَلَى خِطْبَتِهِ  

ahmad:9334ʿAffān > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Ibrāhīm > al-ʿAlāʾ from his father > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] The translation of the passage is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: A man should not observe fasting on the day his brother Muslim is observing fasting, nor should he propose marriage to the woman his brother has proposed to."  

أحمد:٩٣٣٤حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يَسُومُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَتِهِ  

ahmad:6135Yaʿqūb And Saʿd from my father > Muḥammad b. Isḥāq > Nāfiʿ a freed slave of ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding a man from delivering a sermon on behalf of his brother or selling something on his behalf.  

أحمد:٦١٣٥حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ وَسَعْدٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى أَنْيَخْطُبَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ أَوْ يَبِيعَ عَلَى بَيْعِهِ

Abu Hurairah reported the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ as saying “ A man should not seek the hand of a woman in marriage when his brother has already sought her hand.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2080)   

أحمد:١٠٨٤٩حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَسْتَامُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ وَلَا يَخْطُبْ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ  

darimi:2221Abū al-Walīd al-Ṭayālisī > Shuʿbah > Suhayl b. Abū Ṣāliḥ from his father > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ who said, "A man should not propose marriage to his brother's fiancée."  

الدارمي:٢٢٢١أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ «نَهَى عَنْ أَنْ يَخْطُبَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ»  

tabarani:2124[Chain 1] ʿAlī b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz > Isḥāq b. Ismāʿīl al-Ṭālqānī [Chain 2] Abū Khalīfah And al-ʿAbbās b. al-Faḍl > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. al-Mubārak > Khālid b. al-Ḥārith > Saʿīd b. Abū ʿArūbah > Qatādah > Abū Muslim al-Jadhmī > al-a neighborūd b. al-Muʿallá

from the Prophet ﷺ that he forbade that a person drinks while standing.  

الطبراني:٢١٢٤حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الطَّالْقَانِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ وَالْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ قَالَا ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قَالَا ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ الْجَذْمِيِّ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ بْنِ الْمُعَلَّى

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يَشْرَبَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he forbade a person from outbidding his brother in a purchase and from proposing marriage to a woman who has already been proposed to by his brother.  

البيهقي:١٠٨٩٥أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ قَالَا أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَا ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَسُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَامَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ وَأَنْ يَخْطُبَ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ
