46. Book of Sacrifices
"Ibn Al-Musayyab told me that Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet told him that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his nails or cut his hair for the first ten days Dhul-Jijjah."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4362)
“You sacrifice it yourself.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3138)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ took an oath with his companions to sacrifice sheep for the offering. He gave me a male kid from the goats, so I brought it to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, it is a young one." He said, "Sacrifice it."
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sacrifice two horned, black-and-white rams and he would say the Name of Allah and pronounce His greatness. I saw him slaughtering them with his own hand, putting his foot on their sides.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3120)
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sacrifice two horned, black-and-white rams and he would say the Name of Allah and pronounce His greatness. I saw him slaughtering them with his own hand, putting his foot on their sides.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3120)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sacrifice a choice, horned ram with black round the eyes, the mouth and the feet. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2796)
I was present with Ibn ʿUmar at Minah. He passed a man who was sacrificing his camel while it was sitting. He said make it stand and tie its leg ; thus follow the practice (sunnah) of Muhammad (SWAS). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1768)

'We sacrificed a Jadh'ah sheep with the Messenger of Allah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4382)
[Machine] On the day of Eid al-Adha, the messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to sacrifice. He claimed that the messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to offer another sacrificial animal. Abu Burdah said, "I only find a stump." So the messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you cannot find anything but a stump, then slaughter it."

"The Prophet ﷺ delivered a Khutbah on the day of An-Nahr and said: 'The first thing we start with on this day of ours is the prayer, then we offer sacrifice. Whoever does that, he has followed our sunnah, but whoever slaughtered (his sacrifice) before the (prayer), that is just meat that he gave to his family. Abu Burdah bin Niyar had slaughtered his sacrifice and he said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I have a Jadha'ah that is better than a Musinnah.' He said: 'Slaughter it (as a sacrifice), but that will not be sufficient for anyone else (as a sacrifice) after you.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1563)
[Machine] Narrated to us Mansour, Zubaid, Dawood, Ibn Awun, and Mujalid from Al-Sha'bi. And this is the narration of Zubaid who said, I heard Al-Sha'bi narrating from Al-Bara' who said, "We were with Sariyah near the mosque. If I had known, I would have informed you of its location." He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a sermon, saying, 'Indeed, the first thing we will start with today is to offer the prayer, then we will return and sacrifice. Whoever does so has followed our Sunnah, and whoever sacrifices before that, his offering is just meat that he has given to his family, it is not considered a part of the rituals.'" He said, "My uncle Abu Burdah Ibn Niyyar slaughtered and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have slaughtered and have a thigh better than a mature sheep.' He said, 'Place it back in its place and it will not count as an offering for anyone after you.'"

He who observes prayer like our prayer and turns his face towards our Qibla (in prayer) and who offers sacrifices (of animals) as we do, he must not slaughter the (animal as a sacrifice) until he has completed the prayer. Thereupon my maternal uncle said: Messenger of Allah, I have sacrificed the animal on behalf of my son. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is the thing in which you have made haste for your family. He said: I have a goat with me better than two goats. Thereupon he said: Sacrifice it for that is the best. (Using translation from Muslim 1961d)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon to us on the day of sacrifice after the prayer. He said: If anyone prays like our prayer, and sacrifices like our sacrifice, his sacrifice is all right. If anyone sacrifices before the prayer (for 'Id), that is goat meant for flesh. Abu Burdah b. Niyar stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, I swear by Allah, I sacrificed before I went for prayer. I thought it was the day of eating and drinking; so I made haste, and ate myself, and supplied flesh to my family and neighbors. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: That is a goat meant for eating flesh. He said: I have a kid (of less than a year) which is better than two goats meant for flesh. Will it be valid from me ? He said: Yes, but it will not be valid for anyone after you. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2800)

There will be no harm in that for you, and nothing will be better for you after your passing."

The man said: "What do you think if I cannot find anything but a female sheep that has been loaned to me so that I may benefit from its milk - should I sacrifice it?" He said: "No. Rather cut something from your hair and your nails, trim your mustache and shave your pubic hairs, and you will have a complete reward with Allah, the Might and Sublime, as if you had offered the sacrifice." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4365)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to check the eyes and ears [when selecting an animal for sacrifice] (Using translation from Aḥmad 732)
46.1 [Machine] Chapter
"I heard the Messenger of Allah say" - and he gestured with his fingers, but his fingers were shorter than the fingers of the Messenger of Allah - he said "It is not permissible to offer as a sacrifice an animal that clearly has one bad eye, a lame animal that is obviously lame, as sick animal that is obviously sick, or an animals that is so emaciated that it is as if there is no marrow in its bones." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4371)
[Machine] I asked Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ disliked about sacrificial animals. He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are four types that are not permissible in the sacrificial animals of Eid Al-Adha: a lame animal with a visible limp, a blind animal with visible blindness, a sick animal with evident sickness, and an animal that is emaciated and cannot be fattened."
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he used to say, "None of you should eat from the meat of his sacrifice beyond three days."
[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) it is narrated: "None of you should eat from his sacrifice meat for more than three days."
the Messenger of Allah forbade eating the meat of the sacrificial animals after three days then he said: "Eat, take some with you (if traveling). And store some." ( Sahih) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4426)
the Messenger of Alllah forbade (Eating) the meat of sacrificial animals after three days. Then Qatadh bin An-Nu' man, who was brother of Abu Sa'eed through his mo0ther, and had been present at Badr, came and they offered him (some of the meat) .He said: "Didn't the Messenger of Allah forbid it?" Abu Sa eed said: "Something happened later. The Messenger of Allah forbade us to eat it for more than three days, then he allowed us to eat it and store it." (Sahih ) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4428)
[Machine] He ﷺ said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "O people of Medina, do not eat the meat of the sacrifices after three days." They complained to him that they had families and servants. He said, "Eat, feed others, and preserve."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Eid al-Adha, "Whoever makes a sacrifice from among you, let him not partake in anything from his sacrifice before the third day in his home." So when the following year's Eid al-Adha was near, they asked the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah, should we do the same as we did last year?" He said, "No, people were making an effort, so I wanted to provide assistance. Eat, feed others, and save some."
[Machine] "We ate lunch with the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in Madinah."
[Machine] "We used to accompany the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to supply sacrificial meat to Medina."
[Machine] The translation of the given sentence into English is:
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'Repair the meat of this sacrificial animal.' So I repaired it, and he continued to eat from it until he reached the city."
[Machine] "He should eat it until he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Eat it from Dhul-Hijjah to Dhul-Hijjah.'"
