[Machine] "When people came for Hajj in the year nine, Uruwah ibn Mas'ood al-Thaqafi, the uncle of al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and sought permission to return to his people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I fear that they will kill you.' Uruwah said: 'If they find me sleeping, they can wake me up.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him permission, and he returned to his people as a Muslim. He stayed there until after dinner, then the people of Thaqif came to him, so he invited them to Islam. They accused him falsely, disobeyed him, and said things about him that he did not deserve. Then they left him until it was late at night, when dawn was about to break. Uruwah stood up in his house, called for prayer, and started to recite the Shahada. A man from Thaqif shot an arrow at him and killed him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Uruwah is like the companion of Yasin (i.e., Prophet Nuh), who called his people to Allah the Almighty and they killed him.'"

[Machine] When people began performing the Hajj in the ninth year, Urwah ibn Mas'ud came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as a Muslim, seeking permission to return to his people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I fear that they may kill you." Urwah said, "If they find me asleep, they will not wake me up." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted him permission and he returned to his people as a Muslim. He presented the evening meal and the people of Thaqif came to greet him. He invited them to Islam but they accused him, angered him, and told him things that he did not expect. Then they left him until they performed the night prayer, and as dawn broke, he stood on a platform in his house, called the Adhan, and made the Tashahhud. A man from Thaqif threw an arrow at him and killed him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The case of Urwah is like the case of the people of Yasin. He invited his people to Allah and they killed him."

[Machine] So when Abu Bakr left and the people had completed their Hajj, Urwah ibn Mas'ud al-Thaqafi came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and embraced Islam. Then he sought permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to return to his people, and he said, "I fear that they may kill you." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If they find me sleeping, they will not wake me up." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him permission, and he returned to Ta'if. He presented them with a meal and the people of Thaqif came to greet him. He invited them to Islam and advised them, but they rejected him, disobeyed him, and treated him with harm that they had never feared from him. So they left him until they had their pre-dawn meal and the morning came. He stood on a platform in his house and called the Adhan, and when he finished the witness for the prayer, a man from Quraysh threw an arrow at him, and he killed him.
