[Machine] Zaid ibn Al-Khattab carried the banner of the Muslims on the day of Yamamah, and the Muslims were exposed until Hanifah became visible among the men. Then Zaid ibn Al-Khattab began to say, "As for the men, there are no more men, and as for the men, there are no more men." He then shouted at the top of his voice, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the flight of my companions, and I disassociate myself from what Musaylimah and Muhkam ibn At-Tufayl have brought." He held onto the banner and advanced with it to confront the enemy, and he struck with his sword until Rahmah ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah have mercy on him, was killed. The banner fell, and it was taken by Salim, the servant of Abu Hudhayfah. The Muslims said, "O Salim, we fear that we will be betrayed by you." He replied, "Woe to the one carrying the Quran, if you are given to me." Zaid ibn Al-Khattab was killed in the twelfth year of Hijrah.
