[Machine] Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri entered upon the Messenger of Allah while he was wrapped in a Qatifa (a type of Yemeni garment made of wool) and he placed his hand on it and felt its heat above the Qatifa. Abu Sa'id said, "O Messenger of Allah, your cloak is very hot!" The Messenger of Allah said, "Indeed, we are inflicted with trials in this manner, and our reward is multiplied." Then Abu Sa'id asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who experiences the most severe trials?" The Messenger of Allah replied, "The prophets." Abu Sa'id asked again, "Then who?" He replied, "The scholars." Abu Sa'id asked once more, "Then who?" He replied, "Then the righteous." One of them would be tested with poverty to the extent that he could only find a garment to wear, and another would be tested with lice to the point of killing them. And none of them would be happier with trials than one of you would be with receiving gifts." Abu Al-Abbas narrated this to us from Bahar in the Musnad, and from Ar-Rabi' in Al-Fawaid, and I have combined both narrations.
