The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe thirteen rak'ahs of the night prayer. Five out of them consisted of Witr, and he did not sit, but at the end (for salutation).

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يُوتِرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِخَمْسٍ لاَ يَجْلِسُ فِي شَىْءٍ إِلاَّ فِي آخِرِهَا

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to pray thirteen units at night, with five as odd-numbered (witr) prayers. He would not sit except during the fifth unit before making the salutation (salam).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يُوتِرُ بِخَمْسٍ لَا يَجْلِسُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ فَيُسَلِّمُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform Tahajjud prayer with five prostrations, without sitting in between them, until he sat after the fifth prostration and then said the Salam.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِخَمْسِ سَجَدَاتٍ لَا يَجْلِسُ بَيْنَهُنَّ حَتَّى يَجْلِسَ فِي الْخَامِسَةِ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sleep, and when he woke up, he would rose up and perform ablution, then pray eight units of prayer. He would sit after every two units, and then conclude by sitting in the fifth unit. After that, he would perform Witr prayer consisting of five units, sitting only in the fifth unit, and then conclude the prayer.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَرْقُدُ فَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ تَسَوَّكَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى ثَمَانِ رَكَعَاتٍ يَجْلِسُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَيُسَلِّمُ ثُمَّ يُوتِرُ بِخَمْسِ رَكَعَاتٍ لَا يَجْلِسُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray thirteen units of prayer at night and he would perform the Witr prayer with five prostrations. He would not sit between them (the prostrations) until he sat in the final one, then he would give the salutation.

He would sit after every two units and make the Tasleem (saying "As-salamu alaykum" to end the prayer), then he would pray five units of Witr prayer. He would not sit except in the fifth unit, and he would not make the Tasleem except in the fifth unit, and he would repeat this process.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَرْقُدُ فَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ تَسَوَّكَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى ثَمَانِ رَكَعَاتٍ يَجْلِسُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَيُسَلِّمُ ثُمَّ يُوتِرُ بِخَمْسِ رَكَعَاتٍ لَا يَجْلِسُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ وَهَكَذَا

"عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَة رَكْعَةً مِنْهَا خَمْسٌ يُوتِرُ بِهِنَّ، لَا يَجْلِسُ إِلَّا فِي آخِرِهِنَّ، ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ".
