[Machine] Omar saw a beautiful dress or silk being sold and said to the Prophet ﷺ, "If you were to buy this, you could wear it on Fridays or for delegations." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "This is only worn by those who have no sense of modesty." Omar then gave some ornaments made from it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent one of them to Omar and he said, "I heard you say something that you did not say and you sent it to me." Omar replied, "I only sent it to you for you to sell it or wear it."  

أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَأَى حُلَّةَ سِيَرَاءَ أَوْ حَرِيرٍ تُبَاعُ فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَوِ اشْتَرَيْتَ هَذِهِ تَلْبَسُهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ أَوْ لِلْوُفُودِ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ قَالَ فَأُهْدِيَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْهَا حُلَلٌ فَبَعَثَ إِلَى عُمَرَ مِنْهَا بِحُلَّةٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مِنْكَ تَقُولُ مَا قُلْتَ وَبَعَثْتَ إِلَيَّ بِهَا قَالَ إِنَّمَا بَعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَبِيعَهَاأَوْ تَكْسُوَهَا  

ʿUmar saw a silk suit being sold, so he said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Why don't you buy it so that you may wear it when delegates come to you, and also on Fridays?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "This is worn only by him who has no share in the Hereafter." Afterwards the Prophet ﷺ sent to ʿUmar a silk suit suitable for wearing. ʿUmar said to the Prophet, "You have given it to me to wear, yet I have heard you saying about it what you said?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "I sent it to you so that you might either sell it or give it to somebody else to wear." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5841)   

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوِ ابْتَعْتَ هَذِهِ الْحُلَّةَ فَلَبِسْتَهَا لِلْوَفْدِ وَلِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ» إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بِحُلَّةٍ سِيَرَاءَ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ كَسَاهَا إِيَّاهُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَسَوْتَنِيهَا وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُكَ تَقُولُ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتَ فَقَالَ «تَبِيعُهَا أَوْ تَكْسُوهَا»  

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, if you buy this garment and wear it for feasts and for the day of Jumu'ah (Friday), then Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Only those who have no sense of righteousness in the Hereafter wear such garments.' With this chain of narration, it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ later sent a silk garment to 'Umar ibn Al-Khattab. When 'Umar received it, he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you clothed me in it, and I heard you say about it what you said.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I only sent it to you so that you could sell it or give it to some of your wives to wear.'"  

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوِ ابْتَعْتَ هَذِهِ الْحُلَّةَ فَلَبِسْتَهَا لِلْوفُودِ وَلِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بِحُلَّةٍ سِيَرَاءَ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ كَسَاهَا إِيَّاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَسَوْتَنِيهَا وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُكَ تَقُولُ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا بَعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَبِيعَهَا أَوْ لِتَكْسُوَهَا بَعْضَ نِسَائِكَ
