When the time of the Battle of Uhud approached, my father called me at night and said, "I think that I will be the first amongst the companions of the Prophet ﷺ to be martyred. I do not leave anyone after me dearer to me than you, except Messenger of Allah ﷺ's soul and I owe some debt and you should repay it and treat your sisters favorably (nicely and politely)." So in the morning he was the first to be martyred and was buried along with another (martyr). I did not like to leave him with the other (martyr) so I took him out of the grave after six months of his burial and he was in the same condition as he was on the day of burial, except a slight change near his ear.

[Machine] When the Battle of Uhud occurred, my father called me in the night and said, "I can only see myself being killed in the first of those who are killed from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . By Allah, I have never favored anyone over you after the Prophet's life. I have a debt, so settle my debt and take care of your sisters." Then we woke up, and he became the first martyr. I buried him with the others in a grave. But I couldn't bear to leave him with the others in the grave, so I extracted him after six months, and his body was intact, just like the day I buried him, except for his ear.

[Machine] I see myself being killed among the first of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , to be killed. I swear by Allah, no one after me will be dearer to me than you, after the soul of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . I have a debt, so please settle my debt for me and be good to your brethren." He said, "So we woke up and he was the first to be killed. I buried him with the others in a grave, but I did not feel at ease leaving him with the others in the grave, so I dug him out after six months. And lo and behold, his condition was the same as the day I buried him, except that his ear was cut off." Abu Sa'eed Al-Khaleel, the son of Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Basity, narrated to us, from Abu Al-Abbas Ahmad bin Al-Muzaffar Al-Bakri, from Ibn Abi Khaythamah, from Khalid bin Khidash, from Ghassan bin Mudar, from Sa'id bin Yazid, from Abu Nadrah, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who mentioned it in terms of its meaning, and he said, "I buried him, except for his nose, which was still at his head."
