24.11 What kind of As-Sadaqa (charity etc.) is superior?

٢٤۔١١ باب فضل صدقة الشحيح الصحيح

[Machine] According to His saying: {And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death comes to one of you.} Verse. And His saying: {O you who have believed, spend from what We have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there is no exchange.} Verse.

لِقَوْلِهِ: {وَأَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ} الآيَةَ. وَقَوْلِهِ: {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لاَ بَيْعٌ فِيهِ} الآيَةَ.

Giving charity while you're healthy and able

bukhari:1419 – Mūsā b. Ismāʿīl > ʿAbd al-Wāḥid > ʿUmārah b. al-Qaʿqāʿ > Abū Zurʿah > Abū Hurayrah

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, which charity is greatest in reward?" He said, "That you give charity while you are healthy and stingy, fearing poverty and hoping for wealth, and that you do not delay until, when it reaches the throat, you say: 'Such-and-such for so-and-so, and such-and-such for so-and-so,' when it has already become for so-and-so."

البخاري:١٤١٩ – حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ الْقَعْقَاعِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَىُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا؟ فَقَالَ: «أَنْ تَصَدَّقَ وَأَنْتَ صَحِيحٌ شَحِيحٌ تَخْشَى الْفَقْرَ وَتَأْمُلُ الْغِنَى، وَلاَ تُمْهِلُ، حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ قُلْتَ: لِفُلاَنٍ كَذَا، وَلِفُلاَنٍ كَذَا، وَقَدْ كَانَ لِفُلاَنٍ».
