I said to Abu Huraira that my two children had died. Would you narrate to me anything from Messenger of Allah ﷺ a hadith which would soothe our hearts in our bereavements? He said: Yes. Small children are the fowls of Paradise. If one of them meets his father (or he said his parents) he would take hold of his cloth, or he said with his hand as I take hold of the hem of your cloth (with my hand). And he (the child) would not take off (his hand) from it until Allah causes his father to enter Paradise. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Tamim with the same chain of transmitters. And he is reported to have said: Did you hear from Messenger of Allah ﷺ anything which may soothe our heart in our bereavements? He said: Yes.

[Machine] Two of my sons died, so I said to Abu Hurairah, "Did you hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a hadith that comforts us about the death of our loved ones?" He replied, "Yes, their little ones are the birds of paradise. When one of them meets his father or both of his parents, he takes hold of the edge of his garment or his hand, just as I am taking hold of the edge of your garment now, and does not leave him until Allah admits him and his father into Paradise."

[Machine] I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a hadith that he narrated to us, which eases our souls about our deceased. He said, "Indeed, their small children are the doorkeepers of Paradise. One of them meets his father or his parents and takes hold of the hem of his garment or his hand, just as you would hold on to the hem of your garment. So, he does not leave him until he enters Paradise along with him."

[Machine] I asked Abu Hurairah, "Both of my sons have died. Are you aware of any hadith from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that can bring comfort to us from our deaths?" He replied, "Yes, indeed. Their young ones are the little ones of paradise. One of them meets his parents or his father, and he takes hold of his hand just as I am holding a part of your robe. He does not let go until Allah and he enter paradise together." And Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us that Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Hatim Al-Darbardy narrated to us from Marw regarding Abu Al-Muthanna Al-Anbari, who narrated from Musaddad, who narrated from Yahya, who mentioned this hadith except that he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Their young ones are the little ones of paradise.'"
