Abu Bakr asks Zayd to collect the Quran

[AI] Abu Bakr ᴿᴬ sent for me and said: Gather the Quran, for you used to write the revelation for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. As for these words, we do not know anyone who narrated them with this wording except Abu Bakr, and Ibrahim ibn Saad mentioned this phrase. This hadith was also narrated by Umarah ibn Ghaziyyah, from al-Zuhri, from Kharijah ibn Zayd, from his father, so we included it in the Musnad of Abu Bakr because of the soundness of its chain and because of the rarity of what he narrates from Abu Bakr, from the Prophet ﷺ.

البزّار:٢٣ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْكَرَابِيسِيُّ، قَالَ: نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ السَّبَّاقِ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، قَالَ:

أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ، فَقَالَ: اجْمَعِ الْقُرْآنَ، فَإِنَّكَ قَدْ كُنْتَ تَكْتُبُ الْوَحْيَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ. وَهَذَا الْكَلَامُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَوَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إِلَّا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ذَكَرَ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةَ. وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عُمَارَةُ بْنُ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، فَأَدْخَلْنَاهُ فِي مُسْنَدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، لِحُسْنِ إِسْنَادِهِ، وَلِعِزَّةِ مَا يَرْوِي عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ.
