[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am an old and sickly man who struggles to stay up at night. Command me to do something during a specific night that Allah may grant me success on the Night of Decree." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "You should observe the seventh night."  

البيهقي:٨٥٥٧ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعْدٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ بِالرِّيِّ ثنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي الْخُزَاعِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَنْبَلِ بْنِ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَسَدٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ وَعُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَا ثنا مُعَاذٌ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعْدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَرَوِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ح وَثنا أَبُو سَعْدٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الزَّاهِدُ أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ مَطَرٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَنِيعِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ عَلِيلٌ يَشُقُّ عَلَيَّ الْقِيَامُ فَمُرْنِي بِلَيْلَةٍ لَعَلَّ اللهَ يُوَفِّقُنِي فِيهَا لِلَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَيْكَ بِالسَّابِعَةِ

Please command me to do something during the night, so that Allah may grant me success in finding Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree)." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "You should perform the seventh."  

أحمد:٢١٤٩ – حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِإِنِّي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ عَلِيلٌ يَشُقُّ عَلَيَّ الْقِيَامُ فَأْمُرْنِي بِلَيْلَةٍ لَعَلَّ اللهَ يُوَفِّقُنِي فِيهَا لِلَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ قَالَ عَلَيْكَ بِالسَّابِعَةِ

الطبراني:١١٨٣٦ – حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ
