bayhaqi:8250 – Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī b. Muḥammad al-Muqriʾ > al-Ḥasan b. Muḥammad b. Isḥāq > Yūsuf b. Yaʿqūb al-Qāḍī > Muḥammad b. Abū Bakr > Fuḍayl b. Sulaymān > Mūsá b. ʿUqbah > Ḥakīm b. Abū Ḥarrah > a man Yasʾal ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar > a man Nadhar

[Machine] That he would not come upon it a day but he would be fasting in it, and that happened to be the day of Eid al-Adha or the day of Eid al-Fitr. Ibn Umar said, "You had a good example in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." [Al-Ahzab 21] The Prophet ﷺ did not fast on the day of Eid al-Adha or the day of Eid al-Fitr, nor did he command their fasting.  

البيهقي:٨٢٥٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي حَرَّةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَسْأَلُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ نَذَرَ

أَنْ لَا يَأْتِيَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمٌ سَمَّاهُ إِلَّا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فِيهِ فَوَافَقَ ذَلِكَ يَوْمَ أَضْحَى أَوْ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ {لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ أُسْوَةٌ} [الأحزاب 21] حَسَنَةٌ لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصُومُ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى وَلَا يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَلَا يَأْمُرُ بِصِيَامِهِمَا

Ibn Umar said, "You had a good example in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not fast on the Day of Sacrifice or the Day of Breaking the Fast and did not command to fast on them."

أَنْ لَا يَمُرَّ بِهِ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ إِلَّا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَوَافَقَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى أَوْ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَمْ يَكُنْ يَصُومُ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ وَلَا يَوْمَ أَضْحًى وَلَا يَرَى صِيَامَهُ حَقًّا»

[Machine] Does it come upon him on a day he fasts on it, but that happens to be either the day of sacrifice or the day of breaking the fast? Ibn 'Umar replied, "Indeed you have in the Messenger of Allah a good example."
