[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a man from among the Muslims to his people on the day of Ashura and said: "Command them to observe fasting on this day." The man replied: "O Messenger of Allah, I fear that they will not adhere to it until they eat." He ﷺ said: "Whoever among them eats, let him fast the rest of the day."  

البيهقي:٨٠٣٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرَّقَاشِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَسْلَمَ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ مُرْهُمْ فَلْيَصُومُوا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا أَرَانِي آتِيهِمْ حَتَّى يَطْعَمُوا قَالَ مَنْ طَعِمَ مِنْهُمْ فَلْيَصُمْ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ  

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ أَنَّهُ أَمَرَ بِالْقَضَاءِ وَذَلِكَ فِيمَا

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ sent a man who had converted to Islam on the day of Ashura to his people, ordering them to fast on this day. The man said, "I do not think I will come to them until they have eaten." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever among them eats, let him fast the rest of the day."
