[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ came to the people on the day of Ashura and asked, "What is this fasting of yours today?" They replied, "It is the day of Ashura." He said, "Fast on this day and complete the rest of your day."  

البيهقي:٨٠٣٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ

أَنَّ أَسْلَمَ أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ صُمْتُمْ يَوْمَكُمْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا لَا قَالَ فَأَتِمُّوا بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِكُمْ وَاقْضُوهُ  

رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ فِي السُّنَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمِنْهَالِ وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ أَبُو قِلَابَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمِنْهَالِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ وَوَقَعَ ذَلِكَ فِي بَعْضِ النُّسَخِ سَعِيدٌ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ أَيْضًا سَعِيدٌ فَخَالَفَ شُعْبَةَ فِي الْإِسْنَادِ وَالْمَتْنِ
