Hind, the mother of Mu'awiya said to Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Abu Sufyan (her husband) is a miser. Am I allowed to take from his money secretly?" The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "You and your sons may take what is sufficient reasonably and fairly."

هِنْدٌ أُمُّ مُعَاوِيَةَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ فَهَلْ عَلَىَّ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ مَالِهِ سِرًّا قَالَ خُذِي أَنْتِ وَبَنُوكِ مَا يَكْفِيكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

Hind b. Utba said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Abu Sufyan is a miser and he does not give me what is sufficient for me and my children. Can I take of his property without his knowledge?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children, and the amount should be just and reasonable.

أَنَّ هِنْدَ بِنْتَ عُتْبَةَ قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلَيْسَ يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَوَلَدِي إِلاَّ مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ وَهْوَ لاَ يَعْلَمُ، فَقَالَ: «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ۔»

Hind (bint ʿUtba) said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Abu Sufyan is a miser. Is there any harm if I take of his property what will cover me and my children's needs?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Take (according to your needs) in a reasonable manner."

هِنْدُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ فَهَلْ عَلَىَّ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ مَالِهِ مَا يَكْفِينِي وَبَنِيَّ قَالَ خُذِي بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

Hind (bint ʿUtba) said to the Prophet ﷺ "Abu Sufyan is a miserly man and I need to take some money of his wealth." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Take reasonably what is sufficient for you and your children "

لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ فَأَحْتَاجُ أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ مَالِهِ قَالَ خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

Hind, the mother of Mu'awiyah, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'Abu Sufyan is a stingy person. He does not give me as much (money) as suffices me and my children. Is there any harm to me if I take something from his property ? He said: Take as much as suffices you and your children according to the custom.

أَنَّ هِنْدًا أُمَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَإِنَّهُ لاَ يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَبَنِيَّ فَهَلْ عَلَىَّ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ مَالِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَبَنِيكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

"Hind came to the Messenger of Allah [SAW] and said : 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man who does not spend enough on my child and I. Can I take from his wealth without him realizing?' He said: 'Take what is sufficient for you and your child on a reasonable basis.'"

جَاءَتْ هِنْدٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلاَ يُنْفِقُ عَلَىَّ وَوَلَدِي مَا يَكْفِينِي أَفَآخُذُ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَلاَ يَشْعُرُ قَالَ خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

'Hind came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and he does not give me enough for me and my child, except for what I take from his wealth without him realizing.' He said: Take what is sufficient for you and your child, on a reasonable basis.' "

جَاءَتْ هِنْدٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلاَ يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَوَلَدِي إِلاَّ مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَهُوَ لاَ يَعْلَمُ فَقَالَ خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

[AI] Hind, the mother of Muawiya and the wife of Abu Sufyan, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and does not provide me and my children with enough. I only take from him what I can take, and he does not know. Is there any blame on me regarding this?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children in a manner that is acceptable."

أَنَّ هِنْدًا أُمَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ امْرَأَةَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَبَنِيَّ إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ جُنَاحٌ؟ فَقَالَ «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and I have nothing except what enters my house." He said, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children with goodness."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلَيْسَ لِي إِلَّا مَا يَدْخُلُ بَيْتِي قَالَ خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

'Hind came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and he does not give me enough for me and my child, except for what I take from his wealth without him realizing.' He said: Take what is sufficient for you and your child, on a reasonable basis.' " (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2293)

جَاءَتْ هِنْدٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلَيْسَ يُعْطِينِي وَوَلَدِي مَا يَكْفِينِي إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ قَالَ خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

[AI] Hind said to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), "Indeed, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and I only have what he provides for me." He (the Prophet) said, "Take what is sufficient for you and your child with what is good."

قَالَتْ هِنْدٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلَيْسَ لِي إِلَّا مَا يُدْخِلُ عَلَيَّ قَالَ «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»

قالت يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ إن أبا سفيان رجل شحيح لا يعطيني ما يكفيني وولدي إلا أن آخذ منه وهو لا يعلم فقال خذي ما يكفيك وولدك بالمعروف

[AI] Hind, the mother of Mu'awiyah, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and he only gives my children what I take from him, and he does not know about it. Do I have any right in this matter?" The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children with kindness."

أَنَّ هِنْدًا أُمَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُعْطِي وَلَدِي إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَبَنِيكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»

'Hind came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and he does not give me enough for me and my child, except for what I take from his wealth without him realizing.' جَاءَتْ هِنْدٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلَا يُعْطِينِي وَوَلَدِي مَا يَكْفِينِي إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ فَقَالَ «خُذِي لَكِ وَلِوَلَدِكَ مَا يَكْفِيكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»

[AI] That Hind, the mother of Mu'awiya, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man, and he only gives me and my children what I take from him, and he does not know about it. Is there anything upon me in this matter?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children with kindness."

أَنَّ هِنْدًا أُمَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُعْطِينِي وَوَلَدِي إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَبَنِيكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»

[AI] Indeed, my husband, Abu Sufyan, is a tight-fisted and stingy man who does not give me enough and my children. Shall I take from his wealth without his knowledge? So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children with kindness."

إِنَّ زَوْجِي أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ مُمْسِكٌ شَحِيحٌ لَا يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَبَنِيَّ أَفَآخُذُ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَبَنِيكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»

Hind bint ʿUtba said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Abu Sufyan is a miser and he does not give me what is sufficient for me and my children. Can I take of his property without his knowledge?" يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلَيْسَ يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَوَلَدِي إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ قَالَ «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed Abu Sufyan is a stingy man. Is it permissible for me to take something from his wealth?" He replied, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children according to what is appropriate."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ مَالِهِ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man. Is it permissible for me to take from his wealth without his knowledge?" He said, "Take what is sufficient for you and your child through righteous means."

لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ أَعَلَيَّ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ مَالِهِ سِرًّا؟ قَالَ خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ

"جَاءَتْ هِنْدٌ أُمُّ مُعَاوِيَةَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ! إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ، وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُعْطِينِي وَوَلَدِي إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ، فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ؟ قَالَ: خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَبَنِيكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ".
