[Machine] Omar said, "We will not put it in the treasury until we distribute it." Omar cried and Abdul Rahman bin Auf asked him, "What makes you cry, O Amir al-Mu'minin?" Omar replied, "By Allah, this is a day of gratitude, joy, and happiness. Indeed, Allah has never given this to a people except that He has caused enmity and hatred among them."  

البيهقي:١٣٠٣٥ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أنا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أنا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا أُتِيَ عُمَرُ ؓ بِكُنُوزِ كِسْرَى قَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ الزُّهْرِيُّ أَلَا تَجْعَلُهَا فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ يَعْنِي فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ لَا نَجْعَلُهَا فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ حَتَّى نَقْسِمَهَا وَبَكَى عُمَرُ ؓ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ ؓ مَا يُبْكِيكَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّ هَذَا لَيَوْمُ شُكْرٍ وَيَوْمُ سُرُورٍ وَيَوْمُ فَرِحٍ؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ اللهُ قَوْمًا قَطُّ إِلَّا أَلْقَى اللهُ بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ

[Machine] Umar brought some money and placed it in the mosque. He went out to it, examining it and looking at it. His eyes became teary, and AbdurRahman ibn Awf said to him, "O commander of the believers, what makes you cry? By Allah, this is indeed one of the places of gratitude." Umar said, "By Allah, this is not given to a people except that enmity and hatred is cast among them."  

الزهد لأحمد:٥٩٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ [95] هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ قَالَ

أُتِيَ عُمَرُ بِمَالٍ فَوُضِعَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ يَتَصَفَّحُهُ وَيَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَهَمَلَتْ عَيْنَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَا يُبْكِيكَ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنَّ هَذَا لَمِنْ مَوَاطِنِ الشُّكْرِ؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إِنَّ هَذَا وَاللَّهِ مَا أُعْطِيَهُ قَوْمٌ قَطُّ إِلَّا أُلْقِيَ بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ

"عَنْ إبْرَاهِيم بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا أُتِى عُمَرُ بِكُنُوزِ كِسْرَى قَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّه بْنُ الأَرْقَمِ الزُّهُرِى: أَلَا تَجْعَلُهَا في بَيْتِ الْمِالِ (فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: لَا نَجْعَلُهَا في بَيْت الْمَالِ) حَتَّى نَقْسِمَهَا، وَبَكَى عُمَرُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْف: مَا يُبْكِيكَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ؟ فَوَاللَّه: إِنَّ هَذَا لَيَوْمُ شُكْرٍ وَيَوْمُ سُرورٍ وَيَوْمُ فَرَحٍ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: إِنَّ هَذَا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ اللَّه قَوْمًا قَطُّ إِلَّا ألْقَى اللَّه بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَة وَالْبَغْضَاءَ".
