[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit the homes of the Ansar (the Helpers of Madinah) and there was a home that he did not visit, which made them feel sad. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, you visit the home of so-and-so but you do not visit our home?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "There is a dog in your home." They said, "But there is also a dog in their home." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Their dog is a guard dog." Abu Saad al-Malini narrated that Abu Ahmad ibn Adi said that Hafiz Isa ibn Musa ibn Abi Bakr al-Faqih said that Ali ibn Umar al-Hafiz Isa ibn Musa ibn Abi Bakr said: [and the narration ends here].  

البيهقي:١١٨٨ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ الدُّورِيُّ ثنا أَبُو النَّضْرِ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ثنا أَبُو النَّضْرِ هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ثنا عِيسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْتِي دَارَ قَوْمٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَدُونَهُمْ دَارٌ لَا يَأْتِيهَا فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ تَأْتِي دَارَ فُلَانٍ وَلَا تَأْتِي دَارَنَا؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ فِي دَارِكُمْ كَلْبًا قَالَ فَإِنَّ فِي دَارِهِمْ سِنَّوْرًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ السِّنَّوْرُ سَبُعٌ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعْدٍ الْمَالِينِيُّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ عِيسَى بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ صَالِحٌ فِيمَا يَرْوِيهِ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَافِظُ عِيسَى بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ صَالِحُ الْحَدِيثِ

[Machine] The Prophet, ﷺ , used to visit the house of a group of the Ansar, and next to their house there was another house. This bothered them, so they said, "O Messenger of Allah, you visit the house of so and so, but you do not visit our house." The Prophet, ﷺ , said, "Because there is a dog in your house." They replied, "But there is also a cat in their house." The Prophet, ﷺ , said, "Indeed, cats and dogs (both) spread impurities.”  

أحمد:٨٣٤٢ – حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَأْتِي دَارَ قَوْمٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَدُونَهُمْ دَارٌ قَالَ فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ تَأْتِي دَارَ فُلَانٍ وَلَا تَأْتِي دَارَنَا فقَالَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِأَنَّ فِي دَارِكُمْ كَلْبًا قَالُوا فَإِنَّ فِي دَارِهِمْ سِنَّوْرًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ السِّنَّوْرَ سَبُعٌ

This bothered them, so they said, "O Messenger of Allah, you visit the house of so-and-so but not our house." The Prophet ﷺ responded, "There is a dog in your house." They replied, "But there is a lamp in their house." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "The lamb has seven tails."  

الحاكم:٦٤٩ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَاضِي ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ثنا أَبُو النَّضْرِ هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ ثنا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to visit the dwellings of the Ansar people and there was a neighboring house that he did not visit. This saddened them, so they said, "O Messenger of Allah, you visit the house of so-and-so but not our house." The Prophet ﷺ responded, "Indeed, you have a dog in your house." They replied, "But they also have a dog in their house." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Their dog is a guardian, whereas yours is mere pet."
