'Ariyya implies that a person should buy fresh dates on the tree for his family to eat against a measure of dry dates. (Using translation from Muslim 1539g)

البيهقي:١٠٦٦١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْخَصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرِيَّةِ بِخَرْصِهَا وَقَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْعَرِيَّةُ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ الرَّجُلُ ثَمَرَ النَّخَلَاتِ لِطَعَامِ أَهْلِهِ رُطَبًا بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رُمْحٍ عَنِ اللَّيْثِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرِيَّةِ بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا قَالَ يَحْيَى الْعَرِيَّةُ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ الرَّجُلُ ثَمَرَ النَّخَلاَتِ لِطَعَامِ أَهْلِهِ رُطَبًا بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا

ibnmajah:2269 – Muḥammad b. Rumḥ > al-Layth b. Saʿd > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Nāfiʿ > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar > Zayd b. Thābit

"Zaid bin Thabit told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a concession regarding the sale of the estimated harvest of 'Araya return for dried dates." (Sahih) Yahya (one of the narrators) said: "The 'Araya is when a man purchases dates on the trees for food that his family has that is ripe, by estimating them (the dates)."
