Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out (of the mosque) when the Iqama had been pronounced and the rows straightened. The Prophet ﷺ stood at his Musalla (praying place) and we waited for the Prophet ﷺ to begin the prayer with Takbir. He left and asked us to remain in our places. We kept on standing till the Prophet returned and the water was trickling from his head for he had taken a bath (of Janaba). (Using translation from Bukhārī 639)

"The Iqamah for prayer was said, and we stood up and the rows were straightened, before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and stood in the place where he prayed, before he said the Takbir he paused and said to us: 'Stay where you are.' So we stayed there, waiting for him, until he came out to us; he had performed Ghusl and his head was dripping with water. Then he said the Takbir and prayed."

Iqama was pronounced and we stood up and made rows straight till he (the Holy Prophet) stood at his place of worship (the place ahead of the rows where he stood to lead the prayer) before takbir tahrima. He reminded to (himself something) and went back saying that we should stand at our places and not leave them. We waited, till he came back to us and he had taken a bath and water trickled out of his head and then led us in prayer. (Using translation from Muslim 605a)
