The Prophet ﷺ said, "The tribe of Quraish has precedence over the people in this connection (i.e the right of ruling). The Muslims follow the Muslims amongst them, and the infidels follow the infidels amongst them. People are of different natures: The best amongst them in the pre-lslamic period are the best in Islam provided they comprehend the religious knowledge. You will find that the best amongst the people in this respect (i.e. of ruling) is he who hates it (i.e. the idea of ruling) most, till he is given the pledge of allegiance."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الشَّأْنِ مُسْلِمُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِمُسْلِمِهِمْ وَكَافِرُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِكَافِرِهِمْ وَالنَّاسُ مَعَادِنُ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الإِسْلاَمِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا تَجِدُونَ مِنْ خَيْرِ النَّاسِ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ كَرَاهِيَةً لِهَذَا الشَّأْنِ حَتَّى يَقَعَ فِيهِ

People are subservient to the Quraish: the Muslims among them being subservient to the Muslims among them, and the disbelievers among the people being subservient to the disbelievers among them.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَفِي حَدِيثِ زُهَيْرٍ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَقَالَ عَمْرٌو رِوَايَةً النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الشَّأْنِ مُسْلِمُهُمْ لِمُسْلِمِهِمْ وَكَافِرُهُمْ لِكَافِرِهِمْ

This is one of the traditions narrated by Abu Huraira from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: People are subservient to the Quraish: the Muslims among them being subservient to the Muslims among them, and the disbelievers among them being subservient to the disbelievers among them.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ أَحَادِيثَ مِنْهَا وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الشَّأْنِ مُسْلِمُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِمُسْلِمِهِمْ وَكَافِرُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِكَافِرِهِمْ

My ears heard and my heart understood from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: “The people follow Quraish: the righteous ones follow their righteous ones and the evil ones follow their evil ones.ʿ

سَمِعَتْ أُذُنَايَ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ صَالِحُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِصَالِحِهِمْوَشِرَارُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِشِرَارِهِمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "People are followers of the Quraish in this matter. Their best ones are followed by their best ones, and their worst ones are followed by their worst ones."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الشَّأْنِ خِيَارُهُمْ أَتْبَاعٌ لِخِيَارِهِمْ وَشِرَارُهُمْ أَتْبَاعٌلِشِرَارِهِمْ

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قال الناس تبع لقريش في هذا الشأن خيارهم لخيارهم وشرارهم لشرارهم

عَنِ النَّبِي ﷺ قال الناس تبعا لقريش في الخير والشر

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The people are followers of Quraysh in this matter. Their Muslim is followed by their Muslim and their disbeliever is followed by their disbeliever."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الشَّأْنِ مُسْلِمُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِمُسْلِمِهِمْ وَكَافِرُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِكَافِرِهِمْ

"النَّاسُ تبعٌ لقريشٍ في هذا الأمرِ، فخيارهم تبع لخيارهم، وشرَارُهم تبَعٌ لشرارِهم" .

"النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيشٍ صَالِحُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِصَالِحِهِمْ، وَشِرَارُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِشِرَارِهِمْ".

"عن علي قال: الأئمة من قريش، خيارهم على خيارهم، وشرارهم على شرارهم، وليس بعد قريش إلا الجاهلية".

"عَنْ عَلِىٍّ قَالَ: سَمِعَتْ أُذُنَاىِ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِى مِنْ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ : النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ، خِيَارُهُمْ تَبَعًا لِخَيَارهِمْ، وَشِرَارُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِشِرَارِهِمْ".
