Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from a journey when I had placed a curtain of mine having pictures over (the door of) a chamber of mine. When Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw it, he tore it and said, "The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to make the like of Allah's creations." So we turned it (i.e., the curtain) into one or two cushions.

سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ سَفَرٍ وَقَدْ سَتَرْتُ بِقِرَامٍ لِي عَلَى سَهْوَةٍ لِي فِيهَا تَمَاثِيلُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هَتَكَهُ وَقَالَ أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ وِسَادَةً أَوْ وِسَادَتَيْنِ

The Prophet ﷺ entered upon me while there was a curtain having pictures (of animals) in the house. His face got red with anger, and then he got hold of the curtain and tore it into pieces. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Such people as paint these pictures will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection ."

دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَفِي الْبَيْتِ قِرَامٌ فِيهِ صُوَرٌ فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ ثُمَّ تَنَاوَلَ السِّتْرَ فَهَتَكَهُ وَقَالَتْ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُصَوِّرُونَ هَذِهِ الصُّوَرَ

The most grievous torfnent for the people on the Day of Resurrection would be for those who try to imitate Allah in the act of creation.

دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا مُتَسَتِّرَةٌ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ صُورَةٌ فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ ثُمَّ تَنَاوَلَ السِّتْرَ فَهَتَكَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited me. and I had a shelf with a thin cloth curtain hangin. over it and on which there were portraits. No sooner did he see it than he tore it and the colour of his face underwent a change and he said: A'isha, the most grievous torment from the Hand of Allah on the Day of Resurrection would be for those who imitate (Allah) in the act of His creation. A'isha said: We tore it into pieces and made a cushion or two cushions out of that.

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ سَتَرْتُ سَهْوَةً لِي بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ هَتَكَهُ وَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ وَقَالَ يَا عَائِشَةُ أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقَطَعْنَاهُ فَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُ وِسَادَةً أَوْ وِسَادَتَيْنِ

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] entered upon me, and I had put up a curtain on which there were images. When he saw it, his face changed color, then he tore it down with his hand and said: 'The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to imitate the creation of Allah.'"

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ سَتَّرْتُ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ تَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ ثُمَّ هَتَكَهُ بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ

"The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to match the creation of Allah."

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ اللَّهَ فِي خَلْقِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be for the image-makers, and it will be said to them, 'Give life to what you have created.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْمُصَوِّرُونَ يُقَالُ لَهُمْ أَحْيُوا مَا خَلَقْتُمْ

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] entered upon me, and I had put up a curtain on which there were images. When he saw it, his face changed color, then he tore it down with his hand and said: 'The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to imitate the creation of Allah.'" عَنْ عَائِشَةَ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدِ اسْتَتَرْتُ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ تَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً تَغَيَّرَ وَجْهُهُ وَهَتَكَهُ بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا عِنْدَ اللهِ ﷻ يَوْمَالْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللهِ جَلَّ وَعَزَّ أَوْ يُشَبِّهُونَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ سَوَاءٌ

[AI] "I took Duroonuk as a statue to make images, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and broke it, and said, 'The severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be for those who make images resembling the creation of Allah.'"

اتَّخَذْتُ دُرْنُوكًا فِيهِ الصُّوَرُ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺفَهَتَكَهُ وَقَالَ إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللهِ ﷻ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَهِيَ مُسْتَتِرَةٌ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ صُورَةُ تَمَاثِيلَ فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ ثُمَّ أَهْوَى إِلَى الْقِرَامِ فَهَتَكَهُ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily, the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection is for those who try to imitate the creation of Allah."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللهِ ﷻ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her while she was covered with a curtain that had statues on it. The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ changed color and he turned away from the curtain, tearing it with his hand. Then he said, "Indeed, the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be for those who create images resembling the creation of Allah."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَهِيَ مُسْتَتِرَةٌ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَهْوَى إِلَى الْقِرَامِ فَهَتَكَهُ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The most severe of people in punishment on the Day of Resurrection are the image-makers."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْمُصَوِّرُونَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me while I had covered myself with a blanket on which there were statues. When he saw them, his face changed color and he tore them apart with his hand, saying, "Indeed, the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be for those who make images resembling the creation of Allah." Ishaaq ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: Sufyan reported to us on the authority of Abdul Rahman ibn Al-Qasim, on his father the narration of Aisha in the same context, and she said: We cut them and made them into cushions or two cushions.

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ اسْتَتَرْتُ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ تَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ ثُمَّ هَتَكَهُ بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللهِ» 9694 أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِذَلِكَ وَقَالَتْ قَطَّعْنَاهُ فَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُ وِسَادَةً أَوْ وِسَادَتَيْنِ

"The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to match the creation of Allah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5363)

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ اللهَ فِي خَلْقَهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , came to me while I was covered with a shawl that had images on it. When he saw it, his face changed color and he tore it with his hand. He said, "Those who imitate the creation of Allah will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection."

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدِ اسْتَتَرْتُ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ تَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ وَهَتَكَهُ بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَذَابًا الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللهِ

"أشدُّ النَّاسِ عذابًا عنْدَ الله يوْمَ القيامةِ الَّذين يُضاهون بخلقِ الله".

"إِنَّ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ عذابًا عند اللَّه تعالَى يَوْمَ القيامَةِ الذين يشَبِّهُونَ بخَلق اللَّه ﷻ".

"يَا عَائِشَةُ: أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ الذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلقِ الله".
