I prayed along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he used to say in his rukūʿ: ‘I glorify the perfection of Allah, the Supreme’ and his sajdah: ‘I glorify the perfection of Allah, the Most High’. He never came to an āyah of mercy except that he paused at it and asked ˹for Allah’s Mercy˺, nor he came to an āyah of punishment except that he sought the refuge ˹in Allah˺ from it.  

أحمد:٢٣٢٤٠ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ يَعْنِي الْأَعْمَشَ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ عَنْ صِلَةَ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ «سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ» وَفِي سُجُودِهِ «سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى» قَالَ وَمَا مَرَّ بِآيَةِ رَحْمَةٍ إِلَّا وَقَفَ عِنْدَهَا فَسَأَلَ وَلَا آيَةِ عَذَابٍ إِلَّا تَعَوَّذَ مِنْهَا

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَرَكَعَ فَقَالَ فِي رُكُوعِهِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ وَفِي سُجُودِهِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأَعْلَى  

abudawud:871 – Ḥafṣ b. ʿUmar > Shuʿbah

Hudhaifah said that he prayed along with the Prophet ﷺ, and that he said when bowing, “Glory be to my mighty Lord, “ and when he prostrated himself, “Glory be to my most high Lord," when he came to a verse which spoke of mercy, he stopped and made supplication, and when he came to a verse which spoke of punishment, he stopped and sought refuge in Allah.  

أبو داود:٨٧١ – حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِسُلَيْمَانَ أَدْعُو فِي الصَّلاَةِ إِذَا مَرَرْتُ بِآيَةِ تَخَوُّفٍ فَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ مُسْتَوْرِدٍ عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَكَانَ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ وَفِي سُجُودِهِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأَعْلَى وَمَا مَرَّ بِآيَةِ رَحْمَةٍ إِلاَّ وَقَفَ عِنْدَهَا فَسَأَلَ وَلاَ بِآيَةِ عَذَابٍ إِلاَّ وَقَفَ عِنْدَهَا فَتَعَوَّذَ

Abū ʿĪsá said that this Ḥadīth is Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ.

ابن حبّان:٢٦٠٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ يُوسُفَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ الْأَحْنَفِ عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ
