[Machine] A man peeked at the Prophet ﷺ from the corner of a room, and the Prophet ﷺ had a stick in his hand. The man said, "If I knew that he was looking at me until I reached him, I would have poked him in the eye with the stick. Was seeking permission only established for the purpose of seeing?"

أحمد:٢٢٨٣٣ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْ سِتْرِ حُجْرَةٍ وَفِي يَدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِدْرًى فَقَالَ لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا يَنْظُرُنِي حَتَّى آتِيَهُ لَطَعَنْتُ بِالْمِدْرَى فِي عَيْنِهِ وَهَلْ جُعِلَ الِاسْتِئْذَانُ إِلَّا مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَصَرِ

[Machine] Once, a man saw the Prophet ﷺ from behind a curtain, and in the hand of the Prophet ﷺ was a metal instrument. The Prophet ﷺ said, "If I had known that he was waiting for me until I came to him, I would have stabbed him in the eye with this instrument. And has permission been granted only for the sake of vision?".

الطبراني:٥٦٦٠ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

[Machine] He informed him that a man looked in on the Prophet ﷺ from the room, and in the hand of the Prophet ﷺ was a comb. So he said, "If I knew that he was waiting for me until I come to him, I would have stabbed him in the eyes with the comb. And was permission given solely for the sake of sight?"

الطبراني:٥٦٦١ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

[Machine] I heard Sahl ibn Saad saying, "A man came out from the Prophet's room, and with the Prophet was a comb that he used to comb his head. The man said, 'If I had known you were waiting for me, I would have stabbed you in the eye with it. Seeking permission was only made for the purpose of seeing.'"

البيهقي:١٧٦٥٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أنبأ مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْ سِتْرِ الْحُجْرَةِ وَفِي يَدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِدْرًى فَقَالَ لَهُ لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا يَنْظُرُنِي حَتَّى أَتَيْتُهُ لَطَعَنْتُ بِالْمِدْرَى فِي عَيْنِهِ وَهَلْ جُعِلَ الِاسْتِئْذَانُ إِلَّا مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَصَرِ؟

أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنْ مَعْمَرِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ
