[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to recite in the first two units of Dhuhr prayer an ayah that we could hear sometimes, then he would prolong the first unit and shorten the second. And he would recite in the first two units of Asr prayer while prolonging the first unit, and he would recite in the first unit of Fajr prayer while prolonging it and shorten the second unit.  

أحمد:٢٢٦٤٨ – حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lead us in prayer and recite in the first two units (rak'ahs) of Asr and Dhuhr with two surahs and the opening chapter of the Quran. He would sometimes recite a verse that we could hear. In the last two units (rak'ahs), he would recite the opening chapter of the Quran. He used to prolong the first rak'ah of the Fajr (dawn) prayer and the first rak'ah of the Dhuhr (noon) prayer.  

أحمد:٢٢٥٦٣ – حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي بِنَا فَيَقْرَأُ فِي الْعَصْرِ وَالظُّهْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ بِسُورَتَيْنِ وَأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ وَكَانَ يُسْمِعُنَا الْأَحْيَانَ الْآيَةَ وَيَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ وَكَانَ يُطِيلُ أَوَّلَ رَكْعَةٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ وَأَوَّلَ رَكْعَةٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ
