[Machine] Abu Musa sought permission from Umar three times, but he did not grant it to him. Abu Musa then returned and said, "Did you not hear the voice of Abdullah bin Qais?" They replied, "Yes." Abu Musa said, "Go and call him." They went and called him, and he was summoned. Umar asked him, "What prompted you to do what you did?" Abu Musa replied, "I sought permission three times, but it was not granted to me, so I returned. We used to be instructed to do this." Umar said, "Bring a clear evidence for your actions, or else I will punish you." Abu Musa went to a mosque or a gathering of the Ansar, and they said, "Only our youngest member can bear witness for you." Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri stood up and testified for him. Umar said, "This matter was kept hidden from me regarding the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He has demeaned me by conducting business in the markets."

Abu Musa asked ʿUmar to admit him but he was not admitted as ʿUmar was busy, so Abu Musa went back. When ʿUmar finished his job he said, "Didn't I hear the voice of ʿAbdullah bin Qais? Let him come in." ʿUmar was told that he had left. So, he sent for him and on his arrival, he (Abu Musa) said, "We were ordered to do so (i.e. to leave if not admitted after asking permission thrice). ʿUmar told him, "Bring witness in proof of your statement." Abu Musa went to the Ansar's meeting places and asked them. They said, "None amongst us will give this witness except the youngest of us, Abu Saʿid Al-Khudri. Abu Musa then took Abu Saʿid Al-Khudri (to ʿUmar) and ʿUmar said, surprisingly, "Has this order of Messenger of Allah ﷺ been hidden from me?" (Then he added), "I used to be busy trading in markets."

Did you not hear the voice of 'Abdullah b. Qais (the Kunya of Abu Musa Ash'ari)? He was called back. and he (Hadrat 'Umar) said: What did prompt you to do it? Thereupon, he said: This is how we have been commanded to act. He (Hadrat 'Umar) said: Bring evidence (in support of) it, otherwise I shall deal (strictly) with you. So he (Abu Musa) set out and came to the meeting of the Ansar and asked them to bear witness before hadrat Umar about this. They (the Companions present there) said: None but the youngest amongst us would bear out this fact. So Abu Sa'id Khudri (who was the youngest one in that company) said: We have been commanded to do so (while visiting the house of other people). Thereupon 'Umar said: This command of Messenger of Allah ﷺ had remained hidden from me up till now due to (my) business in the market.

[Machine] Abu Musa sought permission from Umar, who replied, "One, two, three" and then Abu Musa returned. Umar said to him, "You must come with evidence for this, or I will take action." Abu Musa replied as if to say, "I will make you regret this." Umar said, "Fine, go ahead." Then Abu Musa went to a gathering where the Ansar were present and mentioned this to them. He said, "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said that if anyone seeks permission three times and is not granted permission, they should go back?" They replied, "Indeed, only our youngest ones go with you." Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri then stood up and told Umar, "This is Abu Sa'eed, leave him alone."

[Machine] Abu Musa sought permission from Umar three times, but Umar did not grant him permission. So Abu Musa returned and informed Umar of this. Umar asked him, "What prevented you?" Abu Musa replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'If any one of you seeks permission three times and is not granted permission, then let him go back.'" Umar said, "Come to me with proof of this, or else Hammad will punish you." Abu Musa left and entered the mosque, then went to the gathering of the Ansar, and narrated to them the incident and what Umar said to him. They said, "None of us will stand with you except our youngest member." So Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri stood with him and testified. Umar said to him, "We do not accuse you, but the narration from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is severe."

[Machine] Abu Musa asked permission from Umar three times, but he was not given permission and it seemed like he was busy. Abu Musa returned and Umar became free, so he said, "Did I not hear the voice of Abdullah ibn Qais? Give him permission." It was said, "He has already returned." So Umar called for him and said, "We were commanded to do that." Abu Musa said, "Come to me with clear evidence for that." He then went to the assembly of the Ansar and asked them. They said, "No one will testify for you except for our youngest, Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri." Abu Musa went with Abu Sa'eed and he testified for him. Umar said, "This matter was hidden from me. Allah's Messenger ﷺ allowed me to trade in the marketplaces, so do whatever you wish."
