[AI] I saw Ammar on the Day of Siffin, an old man, dark-complexioned and tall, holding a spear in his hand while his hand was trembling. He said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I have fought with this banner alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ three times, and this is the fourth. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if they were to strike us until they drove us to the palm branches of Hajar, I would know that those of us seeking reform are upon the truth and that they are upon misguidance."

أحمد:١٨٨٨٤ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ يَقُولُ

رَأَيْتُ عَمَّارًا يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا، آدَمَ، طُوَالًا، آخِذًا الْحَرْبَةَ بِيَدِهِ، وَيَدُهُ تَرْعَدُ، فَقَالَ: وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، لَقَدْ قَاتَلْتُ بِهَذِهِ الرَّايَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، وَهَذِهِ الرَّابِعَةُ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، لَوْ ضَرَبُونَا حَتَّى يَبْلُغُوا بِنَا سَعَفَاتِ هَجَرَ، لَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّ مُصْلِحِينَا عَلَى الْحَقِّ وَأَنَّهُمْ عَلَى الضَّلَالَةِ.

Then he said, "And by the One in whose hand is my soul, if they were to beat us until they reached Sa'afat Hijar, I would know that we are on the truth and they are on falsehood." Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.

الحاكم:٥٦٥١ – أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارُ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ شَيْخًا طُوَالًا أَخَذَ الْحَرْبَةَ بِيَدِهِ وَيَدُهُ تَرْعَدُ فَقَالَ

«وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ قَاتَلْتُ بِهَذِهِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَهَذِهِ الرَّابِعَةُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ ضَرَبُونَا حَتَّى يَبْلُغُوا بِنَا سَعَفَاتِ هَجَرَ لَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّا عَلَى الْحَقِّ وَهُمْ عَلَى الْبَاطِلِ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

[Machine] "And by the One in whose hand is my life, I have fought with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ three times and this is the fourth time. And by the One in whose hand is my life, if they were to hit us until they reached the sa'afat (a type of cloth), we would know that our best interest lies in following the truth and that they are on misguidance." This is reported as authentic according to the conditions of Al-Bukhari and Muslim and they did not exclude it.

ابن حبّان:٧٠٨٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ* يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ شَيْخٌ آدَمَ طُوَالٌ أَخَذَ الْحَرْبَةَ بِيَدِهِ وَيَدُهُ تَرْعُدُ فَقَالَ
