[Machine] I found this hadith in my father's book, and I heard it in another place. Abu al-Yaman told us, Shuayb informed me, from al-Zuhri, who narrated from Sinan ibn Abi Sinan al-Dawli and Abu Salama ibn Abdul Rahman, that Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari, one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , reported that he had participated in a battle with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before reaching Najd. When the Prophet ﷺ stopped, they were surrounded by a thunderstorm one day in a densely wooded valley. The Prophet ﷺ descended and the people dispersed in the dense forest seeking shade under the trees. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ descended and sought shade under a tree, and he hung his sword on it. Jabir said that they took a nap under the tree, and then the Prophet ﷺ called us and we came to him. There was a Bedouin sitting next to him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This man took my sword and I was sleeping." So I woke up, and he had the sword in his hand. He asked me, "Who will stop you from me?" I said, "Allah." He asked again, "Who will stop you from me?" I said, "Allah." Then he returned the sword and sat down, and the Prophet ﷺ did not punish him for that, even though he had done such a thing.

That he proceeded in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ towards Najd to participate in a Ghazwa. (Holybattle) When Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, he too returned with him. Midday came upon them while they were in a valley having many thorny trees. Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people dismounted and dispersed to rest in the shade of the trees. Messenger of Allah ﷺ rested under a tree and hung his sword on it. We all took a nap and suddenly we heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ calling us. (We woke up) to see a bedouin with him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "This bedouin took out my sword while I was sleeping and when I woke up, I found the unsheathed sword in his hand and he challenged me saying, 'Who will save you from me?' I said thrice, 'Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ did not punish him but sat down.
