the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Three ˹traits˺ that if one possesses them is a hypocrite – even if he fasts, prays, and claims to be a Muslim: one who (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays." (Using translation from Ibn Ḥibbān 257)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثٌ فِيالْمُنَافِقِ وَإِنْ صَلَّى وَإِنْ صَامَ وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Three ˹traits˺ that if one possesses them is a hypocrite – even if he fasts, prays, and claims to be a Muslim: one who (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ، وَإِنْ صَامَ وَصَلَّى وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ: مَنْ (١) إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، (٢) وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، (٣) وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ۔»

قَالَ ثَلاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فيه فهو منافق وإن صام وصلى وزعم أنه مؤمن إذا حدث كذب وإذا اؤتمن خان وإذا وعد أخلفوهذا الحديثُ رواه غير المقرئ عن حماد عن داود عن ابن المسيب عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وأحسب أن المقرئ أخطأ فيه

اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم ثلاث من كن فيه فهو منافق وَإن صام وصلى وزعم أنه مؤمن إذا حدث كذب وإذا وعد أخلف وإذا أئتمن خانوهذا الحديث لم يروه عَن دَاود عَن سَعِيد عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ حماد بن سلمة علي بن زيد وهُو ابن جدعان عن سَعِيد

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: 1. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 2. Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise ). 3. If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. (If you keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it.)" (Using translation from Bukhārī 33)

"آيَاتُ الْمُنَافِقِ: مَنْ إِذَا حدَّثَ كَذَب، وَإِذا ائْتُمِنَ خانَ، وإِذَا وَعَدَ أخْلَفَ".

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: 1. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 2. Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise ). 3. "آيَةُ اْلمُنَافِقِ ثَلاثٌ: إذَ حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ، وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ".

from the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Three ˹traits˺ that if a man possesses them then he is a hypocrite – even if he fasts, prays, or claims to be a Muslim: one who (1) when he speaks, he lies, (2) when he promises, he breaks it, and (3) when he is entrusted, he betrays." "آيَةُ اْلمُنَافق ثَلاثٌ - وَإِن صَامَ وَصَلَّى وَزَعَم أنَّه مُسْلِمٌ - إذَا حَدَّث كَذَبَ، وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أخَلفَ، وَإذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ"
